Filipina joins the Carolina Herrera design team

The Pinoy does it again. Young Filipina Joanne Cordero Reyes, who created the Vicente Villarin brand (which counts Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alicia Witt, Freida Pinto, Christina Ricci, and Gossip Girl‘s Joanna Garcia as fans) has been chosen to join Carolina Herrera‘s breed of designers.

Joanne was featured in the Pinay and Poud section of Marie Claire Philippines' July 2008 issue.

This isn’t Joanne’s first bout in designing for international fashion giants. In the past, she has interned for top New York design houses Vivienne Tam and Jill Stuart. She was also previously a freelance designer for the Reem Acra Spring 2005 evening wear collection, a designer for the evening and luxury ready-to-wear collections of J. Mendel, and a designer for fellow Pinay Monique Lhuillier‘s Fall 2007 luxury ready to wear and Spring 2008 Bridal collections.

Gift Idea: Fabulous Rings

First things first: My ring size is 7, but I’m more comfortable with 8.

Why am I sharing this fun, random fact about me?

This is why.

Like me, after you’ve seen the adorably quirky collection of rings that my fingers have fallen in love with, you’ll be announcing your ring size to all your friends and not-so-subtly urging them to get you one as a Christmas present. (And all the while, of course, you’ll find yourself hoarding pieces for them, too!)

The Grapevine: New Stores Next Year

A little bird told me that we might be seeing these shops in our malls by next year.

The source of all things trendy and cheap, Forever 21. I foresee tweens and up looking forward to this. I wonder how they’ll work it out at the trade licensing office since there’s already an existing clothing chain using the same name.

The Nutcracker and Karl Lagerfeld’s Brilliant Tutu

I caught the matinee of Ballet Philippines’ “The Nutcracker” last Saturday (read more about it on spot.ph). I was quite excited as it’s one of my favorite ballets, Swan Lake and Giselle notwithstanding, and it’s been a while since I’ve watched one of the classics staged.

Gift Idea: Cute Aprons

Did some holiday shopping over the weekend and stumbled upon these super cute aprons! These just might be the perfect gift for a loved one who lives to cook.

These printed aprons are trés chic! Deifintely a step up from the usual cooking garb. Who says you can't be fashionable in the kitchen?

Farewell, Jul

Two of my really good friends from high school started this project selling planners about 2 years ago and they’re back this year with 4 new cover designs. Our other high school batchmate Joanna Tripon did the cover art for each of these. Cute right?
