The Look for Less

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

I love how fashion is more accessible nowadays. When I was in high school, it was all about wearing the right brand of jeans (Girbaud, Armani, Diesel) and the right shirt label (Ralph Lauren, Lacoste)  to fit in. Today, the gals are more about the styling and creative interpretations rather than just the brand.

Don’t get me wrong. I love designer merchandise as much as the next girl. I love it even more when it doesn’t cost a small fortune to get my hands on it.

I started seeing this Rodarte for Target dress in some of my favorite fashion blogs and a few online magazines.

Here’s Rumi of Fashion Toast modelling it for her blog.

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

When someone repeats a dress, it sure makes headlines, especially if you’re a revered celebrity.

Sophia Loren looked stunning for her 75 years at the recent Golden Globes.

Steal Her Style: Anne Curtis

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Ever since I saw this photo of Anne, I was haunted by the graphic neon print of her dress. (Most likely because neon was so big over the summer months of ’09)

The print looks amazingly fresh and I like that she didn’t accessorize.

I thought I recognized this outfit at Kate’s birthday show at Fabric last week.

It’s a sexy twist to a dress, don’t you think? But I do like how Mai Kaufman styled it better.

Nail Color Today: Ginger Lily by Orly

Friday, January 15th, 2010

This came in the mail today, delightfully before it’s Summer 2010 ETA.

I love bold nail colors and Orly‘s Ginger Lily is a nice shade of rust that’s sophisticated but not snobbish, fun but not orverly trendy.

Ugg + Jimmy Choo

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

That’s right.

According to WWD, the two footwear brands (from possibly opposite ends of the design spectrum) are releasing a limited edition, 5-piece collection in October. “The collection will be based on the construction of Ugg’s sheepskin boots ‘with design details that embody the spirit of the Jimmy Choo brand,’ the two companies said in a statement.” (Click here for the full article.)
