While watching the Luxewear A lineup of Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2010, my ever trusty BlackBerry received a newsletter from WWD proclaiming that Sarah Burton was named Creative Director of Alexander McQueen.

Sarah Burton has been head of womenswear design of the brand since 2000, and was Lee McQueen’s right-hand woman since 1996. She was also responsible for completing McQueen’s Old Masters-inspired final collection for Fall 2010.

This puts to rest all the successor rumors, including the one about Gareth Pugh taking over the brand.

Having worked with McQueen for such a long time, I’ve no doubt Burton will keep his vision alive.

NY – There’s a lot of things we could be known for in these parts. Jollibee. Lording it over Queens. Angina on Rupaul’s Drag Race (said Jason, the hairstylist at Preview’s shoot). But none more awesome than when my Manhasset moment, right before my cousin’s wedding reception, when I walked into Intermix (love love their selection of Elizabeth and James, shoes from Brian Atwood, smaller labels like pleasure doing business, and big ‘uns like Balmain, Celine, etc) and the store girl stopped me cause she thought the dress I was wearing was “the sickest thing she’d ever seen”. The culprit? A drapey, nude, jersey House of Laurel. Beats all other associations any day!
