Last Saturday, Trilogy Boutique and Toms shoes came up with Style Your Sole. It’s an afternoon dedicated to giving back and getting creative. We all had the chance to buy a pair of Toms and design/paint it however we wanted!

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010Different websites sprouted like mushrooms all over the Internet and sometimes you can’t just figure out where to go and what to read. Now Diesel made things easier for us and created a website, Diesel Fragrance Factory, that took their web presence to a whole new level, coming from their first customized e-store for Diesel Fuel for Life back in 2007, this is definitely a step up!
They created a portal for people to meet and talk about culture, trends, fashion, beauty and downright crazy stuff. A genuine web cocktail, so they say.
It highlights the brand’s lifestyle, latest happenings and whatnot through wicked illustrations, videos, photos, tattoos, theatre and so much more. The website features four columns which is then filled with the latest and often exclusive news from their writers from different corners of the world. A group of very diverse personalities like Jeremy Ville (an Australian blogger), Laurent Dombrowicz (a hardcore fashion trend lookout) and Caroline Andrieu (an upcoming talented illustrator), just to name a few.

Monday, September 28th, 2009To call what happened over the weekend a tragedy would be a tremendous understatement. Lives were lost, families were displaced, homes were torn apart.
It is in these times of calamity that the call for unity MUST be heard and answered. Let us do ALL WE CAN to help those affected by the floods. Volunteer, donate relief goods, pray- whatever way or form, help is needed and will be very much appreciated.

Jenni Needs Peeps

Was chatting with Jenni Epperson for a bit yesterday at the launch of Glam Rock watches, and she told me about her fun little project.
Last April 26, she made a post on her site about available slots for summer on-the-job trainees. The response was so overwhelming (300 applied!) that she thought she’d spin it into something a little more exciting–Stylista style.
She and her newly promoted style associate (from her original post as “Toy Assistant,” in Jenni’s words) Nina Estacio are cooking up challenges. Think sorting through stacks of decades worth of Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, and the like to find that one article that Jenni needs.
Of course, all the nail-biting and outfit-rumpling effort will be rewarded with equally nice things like cozy lunches at Bizu or the chance to meet some of Jenni’s celebrity clients like KC Concepcion.
Tune in to her site for regular updates, or just to check out the comic situational photos she plans to post.

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009This is funny. Bernice (henceforth known as Biba), had to accost these two women in the Ladies to film them (not so) quietly.
Member’s Only was packed and buzzing last April 29 when Charina Sarte played hostess at the Fashion Series. Snaps for Biba for getting these quick interviews in.
I like how Charina gave a fresh take to this designer favorite. (It seems godess dresses have become a style staple, yes?) I’ve always liked the idea of weighing down soft, frothy fabrics with earthy leather. Sometimes, things that are too too pretty need a little toughening up.
The leather harnesses were really sexy. I’d probably wear one similar to Cheryl‘s since it doesn’t accentuate the bust area as much. I like keeping the girls low-key.
Divine is probably one of the bigger supporters of our local designers right now. It’s really great. I actually kidded her that night, asking if every designer of the Member’s Only Fashion Series asked her to be their muse. She laughed with me saying she was actually a bit shy about being asked so much.
Patrice will be hosting tomorrow night. Can’t wait!

Emi Jorge talks “Exhibit Shoes” with Style Bible
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009Was at the exhibit launch of “Portraits de Chausseurs” last night, which was organized by Alliance Francaise de Manille, the French Embassy, and the Yuchengco Museum.
Had a quick chat with Solea‘s Emi Jorge about the pieces she had on display.
A closer look at Emi’s shoes: (right) a slide made with silicon-based Vulca Seal, (left) a heeled slide made of rubber machine tape. Both shoes had heels made from 4-inch construction nails.

I finally saw the Chanel James Bond shoe up close. I’ve been in love with that gun heel since December. Fierce!

Hindy was telling me about how it was a bit difficult to work with banig since the weave would shift as the stones were sewn on.
When I told her that I was in love with these burgundy eyelet shorts (but they didn’t have my size! Tear.), she said that those were done by hand by a shop that really specialized in callado. Unfortunately, after having been in business for 40 years, the workshop had to close because it couldn’t compete with the volume, speed, and price of China’s production. How sad! We really need to start supporting local industry and handicraft or else they’ll all slowly disappear.
