Diesel’s Web Cocktail

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Different websites sprouted like mushrooms all over the Internet and sometimes you can’t just figure out where to go and what to read. Now Diesel made things easier for us and created a website, Diesel Fragrance Factory, that took their web presence to a whole new level, coming from their first customized e-store for Diesel Fuel for Life back in 2007, this is definitely a step up!

1

They created a portal for people to meet and talk about culture, trends, fashion, beauty and downright crazy stuff. A genuine web cocktail, so they say.

5

It highlights the brand’s lifestyle, latest happenings and whatnot through wicked illustrations, videos, photos, tattoos, theatre and so much more. The website features four columns which is then filled with the latest and often exclusive news from their writers from different corners of the world.  A group of very diverse personalities like Jeremy Ville (an Australian blogger), Laurent Dombrowicz (a hardcore fashion trend lookout) and Caroline Andrieu (an upcoming talented illustrator), just to name a few.

Very, very interesting indeed! I suggest you drop by Diesel Fragrance Factory for your daily dose of quirky news!

Coca-Cola’s Pretty Little Things

Friday, November 13th, 2009

I was absolutely delighted when I first saw these on Luxuo.com.

“Italian fashion designers Donatella Versace, Alberta Ferretti, Anna Molinari for Blumarine, Veronica Etro, Silvia Venturini for Fendi, Consuelo Castiglioni for Marni, Angela Missoni and Rossella Jardini for Moschino, have teamed with Coca Cola for fund raising campaign in support of the victims of the earthquake in Abruzzo, Italy.” (click here to read the full article)

If only we could do something similar to Coca-Cola Light‘s “Tribute to Fashion” for all the relief/rehabilitation projects here.

These are my favorites:

alberta-ferretti

Is it flame or fabric on this design by Alberta Ferretti?

YouTubing: About Marc Jacobs

Monday, June 1st, 2009

So that’s what Anna Wintour sounds like. I think she doesn’t sound as intimidating as she looks. It must be really cool to be Marc Jacobs.

Jenni Needs Peeps

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Was chatting with Jenni Epperson for a bit yesterday at the launch of Glam Rock watches, and she told me about her fun little project.

www.jenniepperson.com

Last April 26, she made a post on her site about available slots for summer on-the-job trainees. The response was so overwhelming (300 applied!) that she thought she’d spin it into something a little more exciting–Stylista style.

She and her newly promoted style associate (from her original post as “Toy Assistant,” in Jenni’s words) Nina Estacio are cooking up challenges. Think sorting through stacks of decades worth of Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, and the like to find that one article that Jenni needs.

Of course, all the nail-biting and outfit-rumpling effort will be rewarded with equally nice things like cozy lunches at Bizu or the chance to meet some of Jenni’s celebrity clients like KC Concepcion.

Tune in to her site for regular updates, or just to check out the comic situational photos she plans to post.

Cheers!

Isha.

P.S.

Thanks mucho for the lipstick pen, Jenni! Really love it :)

Isn’t it adorable?

Charina and Divine Speak Greek.

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

This is funny. Bernice (henceforth known as Biba), had to accost these two women in the Ladies to film them (not so) quietly.

Member’s Only was packed and buzzing last April 29 when Charina Sarte played hostess at the Fashion Series. Snaps for Biba for getting these quick interviews in.

I like how Charina gave a fresh take to this designer favorite. (It seems godess dresses have become a style staple, yes?) I’ve always liked the idea of weighing down soft, frothy fabrics with earthy leather. Sometimes, things that are too too pretty need a little toughening up.

The leather harnesses were really sexy. I’d probably wear one similar to Cheryl‘s since it doesn’t accentuate the bust area as much. I like keeping the girls low-key.

Divine is probably one of the bigger supporters of our local designers right now. It’s really great. I actually kidded her that night, asking if every designer of the Member’s Only Fashion Series asked her to be their muse. She laughed with me saying she was actually a bit shy about being asked so much.

Patrice will be hosting tomorrow night. Can’t wait!

Emi Jorge talks “Exhibit Shoes” with Style Bible

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Was at the exhibit launch of “Portraits de Chausseurs” last night, which was organized by Alliance Francaise de Manille, the French Embassy, and the Yuchengco Museum.

Had a quick chat with Solea‘s Emi Jorge about the pieces she had on display.

A closer look at Emi’s shoes: (right) a slide made with silicon-based Vulca Seal, (left) a heeled slide made of rubber machine tape. Both shoes had heels made from 4-inch construction nails.

Other highlights…

I finally saw the Chanel James Bond shoe up close. I’ve been in love with that gun heel since December. Fierce!

(Knee-high boot circa 1920.)

In Nikki’s words, “it must have taken ages to button up this boot, but I’d definitely do it.”

Armoured Sci-fi versus Modern Tribal, both by Kermit Tesoro.

The evolution of the Bakya by Kidlat Tahimik.

I won’t post too many photos. Wouldn’t want to spoil it for you. The whole exhibit is a must-see, featuring real shoes, photographs, audio-visual art and more.

It will run ’til June 20, 2009 at the Yuchengco Museum in RCBC Plaza in Makati. Emi mentioned that she was thinking of giving a tour of the venue if we could get a big enough group together. If you’re interested, please email me at stylebible@stylebible.ph.

Hindy picks from Culte Femme’s latest

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

I’ve been having a little too much fun with this Flip camera of Nicole. Hope you enjoy!

Hindy was telling me about how it was a bit difficult to work with banig since the weave would shift as the stones were sewn on.

When I told her that I was in love with these burgundy eyelet shorts (but they didn’t have my size! Tear.), she said that those were done by hand by a shop that really specialized in callado. Unfortunately, after having been in business for 40 years, the workshop had to close because it couldn’t compete with the volume, speed, and price of China’s production. How sad! We really need to start supporting local industry and handicraft or else they’ll all slowly disappear.

Thanks for the interview Hindy! Had a great afternoon!

Puey Quinones Starts the Fashion Series at Members Only

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Was at Member’s Only last night for the start of their six part fashion series sponsored in part by Preview magazine and 42 Below vodka (their Summer Breeze was dee-lish).

Nicole lent me this adorable, itty bitty (PINK!) video cam to try out. Unfortunately, low-light proved to be a huge challenge for my amateur videography skills. Puey, however, happily obliged me and gave me a quick interview by the lamp at the bar.

So after trying and failing to capture his muses on video, i fell back to my trusty old camera (It’s pink too!).

Trying to choreograph his ten muses into an impromptu gatefold-worthy composition was a bit tricky.

But it did turn out quite well, didn’t it? From L-R: (Standing) Candy Dizon, Pia Campos, Lulu Tan Gan, Carmina Sanchez; (Seated) Ria Bolivar, Mai Kauffman, Puey Quinones, Divine Lee, Cat Arambulo, Ange dela Cruz, Isabelle Abiera; (Seated on the floor) Lara Parpan, and Solenn Heussaff.

Details at a glance:

Contrast ruffling on Ange’s skirt and gorgeous texture on Mai’s capelet.

Art attack on the frocks of Divine Lee and Isabelle Abeira.

A polka dotted sneak peek under Solenn’s skirt.

Mother-of-Pearl buttons invading Ria’s dress.

These are the highlights. Stay tuned for more!

Fashion Bites: A Stylin’ Soltera

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Cousin dearest will be getting married early next month and her Despedida de Soltera last Saturday was a fun little preview of how great her wedding’s going to be. (More eating, more drinking, some dancing, and a ton of silliness in store.)

My cousin Mitzi and her maid of honor, Celine.

Mitzi, Celine, my other fab cuz Catrina, and I all went to Vietnam a few months ago to do a little fabric shopping for the wedding. (Click here to see my entry Shop Saigon.) We found the prettiest pale pink embroidered tulle for her soltera dress which Joey (Samson) turned into a simple shift.

He used the scalloped edges to highlight the neck and hemline. Pretty velvet straps held everything in place. The neckline dipped into a deeper V at the back, with the scalloped edging making it look incredibly romantic.

Patty Morato-Roa is and has been one of my cousin’s best friends since high-school. She’s designing the dresses for the entourage, which we fit that morning. I’m so excited to post about the gown I’ll be wearing, with it’s fluffy ball skirt (My crinoline dreams have come true!), and Jackie O. neckline. Doesn’t Patty look amazing? You can’t even tell she’s pregnant.

Here’s a preview of my niece Solana wearing her magenta flower girl dress. Note: the flower applique she’s holding in her hands is from the fabric we bought in Saigon. Patty will be using it as an accent piece on the gowns. (Click here to see my entry Shop Saigon.)

Back to the soltera…stylish friends present: a sleepy Bianca Gonzales and Louis Vuitton’s Pam Picazo. Don’t you love Pam’s asymmetric dress? Bianca’s dress was loads of fun with a peek-a-boo at the back.

Here I am switching scene modes on my camera, trying to do a Jeurgen Teller. L-R: Celine’s dress is from F&H. What a cool find! I’m really loving Jett’s black bustier. It has pockets! Any dress with pockets is a winner in my book. I’m all about form and function.

And to end…a quick shot of the happy couple. Congratulations Mitz and Hen! Looking forward to the big day ;)
