Divine Lee

How Divine Lee manages to walk into events with flawless makeup and perfect supermodel waves every single time was always beyond our comprehension.  That is, ’til today. Despite looking like the product of multiple hands working on her beauty look, Divine posted a video on her Tumblr revealing a solo act when it comes to prepping for a night out (which actually only makes us feel much worse!). So not only does she make her own clothes (care of her clothing brand, Luca), Divine also has a knack for DIY in the beauty department.

The Look for Less

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

I love how fashion is more accessible nowadays. When I was in high school, it was all about wearing the right brand of jeans (Girbaud, Armani, Diesel) and the right shirt label (Ralph Lauren, Lacoste)  to fit in. Today, the gals are more about the styling and creative interpretations rather than just the brand.

Don’t get me wrong. I love designer merchandise as much as the next girl. I love it even more when it doesn’t cost a small fortune to get my hands on it.

I started seeing this Rodarte for Target dress in some of my favorite fashion blogs and a few online magazines.

Here’s Rumi of Fashion Toast modelling it for her blog.

Bandage at its Best

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Rumor has it, bandage dresses actually whittle your figure into shape instead of showing off every bulge as we all fear. One thing’s for sure, they’re undeniably sexy.

It’s probably why both Ornusa Cadness (photo taken at the Prive Series featuring Charina Sarte) and Phoemela Barranda (photo from the opening of Club LAX) both got their hands on Charina Sarte‘s chocolate and black banded number.

Look at how amazing Vina Morales looks in this little black bandage dress by Jun Escario. To think she had just given birth three weeks before this photo was taken.

Of course nothing beats the designs of the master himself. Look who I’ve spotted wearing Herve Leger.

Ok maybe you need to be as fat-free as Leica Carpo to pull this off.

Because of this gorgeous, strapless wonder, Wendy Puyat won Style Star and was featured on Preview magazine’s Best-Dressed page.

Divine Lee wore an Herve Leger to the Chinese New Year party at Embassy Superclub.

While it was too crowded to get a full-body photo of her, this is what the dress looked like. (Photo from net-a-porter.com.)

Lastly, I love Charina Sarte‘s indigo and white Herve Leger. It’s totally bombshell but still sophisticated.

Unfortunately, I haven’t really found anything in the ready-to-wear racks but you can always have it custom-made.

Spotted this in the forums though:

Fashion_md says she found this navy and gray dress in SM. What a steal! I think I’m going to mozy on over and have a look myself.

Have you found any bandage dresses? Let me know :)

Charina and Divine Speak Greek.

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

This is funny. Bernice (henceforth known as Biba), had to accost these two women in the Ladies to film them (not so) quietly.

Member’s Only was packed and buzzing last April 29 when Charina Sarte played hostess at the Fashion Series. Snaps for Biba for getting these quick interviews in.

I like how Charina gave a fresh take to this designer favorite. (It seems godess dresses have become a style staple, yes?) I’ve always liked the idea of weighing down soft, frothy fabrics with earthy leather. Sometimes, things that are too too pretty need a little toughening up.

The leather harnesses were really sexy. I’d probably wear one similar to Cheryl‘s since it doesn’t accentuate the bust area as much. I like keeping the girls low-key.

Divine is probably one of the bigger supporters of our local designers right now. It’s really great. I actually kidded her that night, asking if every designer of the Member’s Only Fashion Series asked her to be their muse. She laughed with me saying she was actually a bit shy about being asked so much.

Patrice will be hosting tomorrow night. Can’t wait!

Puey Quinones Starts the Fashion Series at Members Only

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Was at Member’s Only last night for the start of their six part fashion series sponsored in part by Preview magazine and 42 Below vodka (their Summer Breeze was dee-lish).

Nicole lent me this adorable, itty bitty (PINK!) video cam to try out. Unfortunately, low-light proved to be a huge challenge for my amateur videography skills. Puey, however, happily obliged me and gave me a quick interview by the lamp at the bar.

So after trying and failing to capture his muses on video, i fell back to my trusty old camera (It’s pink too!).

Trying to choreograph his ten muses into an impromptu gatefold-worthy composition was a bit tricky.

But it did turn out quite well, didn’t it? From L-R: (Standing) Candy Dizon, Pia Campos, Lulu Tan Gan, Carmina Sanchez; (Seated) Ria Bolivar, Mai Kauffman, Puey Quinones, Divine Lee, Cat Arambulo, Ange dela Cruz, Isabelle Abiera; (Seated on the floor) Lara Parpan, and Solenn Heussaff.

Details at a glance:

Contrast ruffling on Ange’s skirt and gorgeous texture on Mai’s capelet.

Art attack on the frocks of Divine Lee and Isabelle Abeira.

A polka dotted sneak peek under Solenn’s skirt.

Mother-of-Pearl buttons invading Ria’s dress.

These are the highlights. Stay tuned for more!
