Wednesday, February 10th, 2010Raison d’Etre: To bringing joy and happiness to everyone around me. My mother told me that she had a hard time having a mixed child like me and she fought as hard as she could to still have me.
Job: Model / Day Dreamer
Live: Hong Kong… Or wherever my passport can take me.
Happiness: I’m always a happy girl. I think if you’re happy everything around will feed off that energy..
Brunch: I love all kinds of food… But I love Kee Club for Brunch. It’s quiet and very chic!
Drink: I would have to say Dragon I (Hong Kong). I don’t go out much but when I do I love to dance and be with friends. So this is where my friends play.
Eat: Being half Korean and Spanish, my taste buds are just crazy out of control. I love a bit of everything. Right now my weakness is the food halls in the basement of any department store in Asia. I love being able to choose between different varieties of food all at once.
Escape: Thailand… it’s a 3 hour flight from Hong Kong and everything is so affordable. There’s something for everybody in Thailand.
Read: Right now I’m reading why men need sex and women need love. Like most girls we all need to know why boys act so strange! So I’m just reading up on the opposite sex to give me a beter understanding of this crazy word we call “love”.
Listen: Lily Allen… Loving the man bashing!
She sings about things that I can relate to!
Watch: The Sound of Music… They don’t make movies like they used too.
Indulge: Food, I love to eat… And shoe shopping. I can’t walk past a shop window with out buying something. I know. I’m DANGEROUS!
Shop: Anywhere that takes Visa or MasterCard. No kidding! I’ve been to places where I did not have enough cash and it was heartbreaking!
Fashion: Dorian Ho… He calls me his muse! Gotta love that!
Aspire: I don’t have one fave but I take ideas from everyone to put my style together.
Charity: I do what I can to help. I think we all should. If everyone cared enough and did their share I’m sure we can make a difference in the world.
Dream: We all dream of selfish things. It’s just human but my biggest dream is to start my own charity. I believe we need more female role models in Asia. It would be wonderful to start this but at the moment I have my hands full with so many things. One day…I’ll make it happen.
Accessory: Love Rafe’s Designs! He is the sweetest man on earth. He spends the time talking to you about his pieces and listens to your opinions.. Also, he’s a dreamer like most of us. I’m so happy his dreams have come true!
Rafe Loves…Pippa Salonius
Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010Raison d’Etre: Do I need one?
Job: Art Historian (eternal student, reticent writer… teaching unwilling university students)
Live: Florence, Italy.
Happiness: Listening to my 3-month-old daughter laugh… Bliss!
Brunch: Home-made crunchy granola and yogurt with fresh boysenberries at the Mount Cook Café 20-odd years ago in Wellington, NZ (but I’ve been told it has changed hands and lost its breakfast flair).
Drink: “Rifugio Rosetta” , San Martino di Castrozza in the Dolomites: you take the cable car up around midday, hardly anyone’s there because they are all eating in the lower restaurant at the end of the first ski lift… a bowl of pasta e fagioli and a glass of red wine on top of the world before hitting the slopes again. Its the best!
Eat: Wagamama, anywhere in the world. I usually find myself in the one in High Street Kensington, London. The food is fresh, good, cheap, fast and you can wash it all down with green tea or a freshly squeezed fruit and/or vegetable juice!
Escape: Our family beach house, Bon Accord Harbour, Kawau Island, Hauraki Gulf, New Zealand
Read: The Economist and Nathan Never (Italian Science Fiction Comic)
Listen: Leonard Cohen, Cat Stevens, KD Lang, The Clash, The Cure and theme music from Bollywood films for dancing to!
Watch: Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Harry Potter…
Indulge: Baluchi rugs.
Shop: Neal Street East, Convent Garden, London… but it sadly is no longer there, I still miss it.
Fashion: Etro
Charity: I’m a student.. albeit a working one. I tend to think of myself as the charity case!
Dream: A world without boundaries… for everyone.
Accessory: Rafe Bags! They are the perfect fit.
