Day 2 of New York was off to a fantastic start! The sun was out, the air was crisp and it was just perfect! We heard that there was this temporary mobile art installation show with Chanel in Central Park and that was on top of my to-do list!
We walked to the park and asked for directions. We did not have any tickets but according to the kind guards, there was a good chance that we could wait in line on stand by and see the show.
I thought that we had to pay for us to see it, and I was so happy that it was FREE! I love this city! We were in line for an hour, we did not mind though as the weather was superb and we did our restaurant reservations while standing in line.
The space was designed by “LOLA” Karl’s favorite architect ZAHA HADID, I love her work and have seen several samples of her futuristic ovoidal creations! I loved how it looked like a giant
space capsule/ pod.
When we got in we were given headsets and the sultry voice of french actress Jeanne Moreau spoke to us ( in the super cool mini i-pods) and gave us instructions on when to stand and where to go. I love the fact that she was our guide to this very elegant sound and light extravaganza! She was the thread that linked all the various artists from diverse nations such as Iran, Japan, India, China, Korea, France, Belgium,Russia and many more.

An adjacent building that holds special functions! I loved the mirrored walls reflecting the trees of Central Park!
I noticed that most of the art works had a voyeuristic approach to the way the art was viewed and experienced. They had several sexual themes hence children under 16 are not allowed inside.
My favorite experience was that of Leandro Erlich of Argentina! To quote the book/magazine that came with the mobile show….The piece is called “swimming pool.” It is a good example of the interpretative possibilities that this artist offers, the physical experience of objects is placed in doubt by devices that trick the eye.
We watched in a dark room a reflection of a building on a pool of water in a gutter and how this changes from dusk till dawn and the weird feeling you get while looking inside windows.
It was a special experience and I am so full of creative energy now! (The show only runs till the 9th of November.)
HUGS!
RAJO!
