Mireille’s Wedding!

Thursday, January 21st, 2010
I love morning weddings!  They are quite rare nowadays since most couples prefer to get married in the evening. However there was a time when most weddings happen during the day.
I was so happy when my friend Mireille Tolentino asked me to do her wedding.  I had the privilege of designing the wedding gowns of both her sisters and she being the last Tolentino sister to get married I really wanted something extra special.  I suggested to Mireille to do an all white entourage. I liked the idea of having no color for the dresses and have the colors come in the flowers.  I was so happy that she liked the idea!
I decided to create a chorded bodice using thin chords, creating a very modern pattern and outlining this with the tiniest glass beads.

Mirelle and me! The lines of the dress created a very flattering effect on the bodice.

OLA!  CHICA’S & CHICO’S!
I am so happy to tell you that I wil be going on a dream destination in a few months! Nix and I and a couple of my favorite people are heading of to South America!  I have been dreaming of heading of to the latin continent for a long time and and I am super excited that I am finally going to do it!  Our first stop is Peru!  We will be climbing the mystical Machu Picchu!
I am a strong believer is SERENDIPITY and as fate would have it, the universe is conspiring for me to really savor the experience.  As fate would have it I was having lunch at UMU ( I created an entry about it a few days ago) I noticed that the Dusit Hotel was having a Peruvian Cuisine festival!  What a perfect opportunity!  So I immediately made a trip to Dusit to try out the festival.

THE 2010 GOLDEN GLOBES!

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

I missed the Golded Globe Awards show on TV!  I had to work and good thing for the internet I felt like I did not miss a thing!  The Globes usually kick off the international awards season!  I love red carpet fashion!  For me it is really the “new” fashion show.  I mean the entire world is watching and the trends of the season are shown on the red carpet.  I tried my best to get lots of images for my entry.

Even if the weather was not cooperating and the must have accessory that evening was a golf umbrella I think the stars, overall “brought” it to the runway.    I just love being a couch critic as much as anyone.  So here are  my list of fashion faves and faux pas!

HUGS!

Asian Cultural Council Art Auction

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

I sit on the board on the Asian Cultural Council!  The council’s  main purpose is to find funding for artists to be sent abroad!  This years main fund-raising activity is very exciting! We are going to have a major, as in MAJAAAH!, (LOL!) art auction on February  6 at the Finale Art File.  There will be previews on February 4 and 5 so people can view the pieces before the auction begins.

We are currently working on the website so that people can view the art for sale online!  I do hope that all the readers of my blog can help me spread the word.  This is really going to benefit the artists.  I love the idea of artists helping other artists!  Our goal is to be able to raise enough to have at least 10 grants!

I know that this is going to be possible!  Please spread the word!

MASSETO!

Monday, January 18th, 2010
Every now and then a restaurant “ROCKS MY WORLD!”
It does not happen to often and it rarely happens here in Manila!  I am so happy to tell all of you that I recently found a restaurant that “ROCKED MY WORLD!”  LOL!  This restaurant is called  Masseto!
Masseto, the restaurant was named after a wine I believe. I loved the chic logo!

The restaurant is only 3 months old but the level of sophistication and refinement belies its youth.  I had the pleasure of coming to Masseto twice  before writing this entry, once for drinks and a quick bite and the second a full on meal!  Each time I went I was completely blown away!

Cool Visitors!

Sunday, January 17th, 2010
I love it when really cool people visit me in my studio!  It creates an atmosphere of fun and creativity that instantly sparks inspiration.
Today I was visited by two sets of people.  Both on almost opposite sides of the spectrum, one pop and commercial and the other avant-garde and very independent.  The great thing about all of this is that both sets came at the same time!  I love it when this happens.
The first set of people was Shahani Gania and Jujiin Samonte.  How can one describe these two?  I would say marvelous mavericks.  They came to me with a brilliant idea that will be kept a secret until it is time to be known. LOL!
Shahani and Jujiin--creative spirits unbound! Both have really cool blogs that I check daily!

UMU!

Friday, January 15th, 2010
I just came back from a spectacularly inspiring lunch. I just have to share this with all of you because the lunch was really fabulous on so many levels. I love Japanese food. It’s the only cuisine that I can eat every day and not get tired from it. I have my constant favorites around the city so imagine my delight when I find a true gem of Japanese restaurant called UMU! It’s the Japanese restaurant at the Dusit Hotel right in the heart of Makati.
Only the most fresh ingredients!

I was so impressed with the interiors that I immediately had to take photos. I particularly loved one wall that reminded me of a wooden prism. It was too chic for words.

My Recent Brides!

Thursday, January 14th, 2010
I started the year running so to speak as I had a total of 3 weddings on Jan3!  I saw this as a fantastic omen as  good things comes in threes.  I had to organize three teams to assist my brides.  I am so proud of my production team as they remained absolutely professional in making sure that all the dresses were  delivered and fully accounted for days before the actual wedding.
The day went so smoothly that I was certain my guardian angels were hovering over my brides.   I feel extremely blessed to be part of every brides wedding day, to be part of their special memory is something that I cherish.  I just want to share the photos with all of you!
This is Jamie Cheng-Coyuito. She was one of my brides on January 3. Jamie is a very young bride and because of this I really wanted something that would make her feel like a princess. Her silk organza dress consumed more that 90 meters as we used 5 layers!
