The Breslin!

We all have a favorite cousin; someone that you have a real connection with that goes beyond blood.  My favorite cousin has got to be Alexis Laurel-Loinaz.  Ever since we were small, we just clicked.  Although we had very different interests, him piano and gymnastics while I was into theater and painting, we just really got along.

RANDOM SHOTS!

I have been busy working here in NYC and in my spare time I come to a couple of places that spark my interest.
Very cool interiors from the indoor Market

Most of the time these center around the food or the restaurant that I like to try of my friends recommend.  You all know I love brunch and this for me works because I end up eating two meals a day instead of one!  However I know this is not the healthiest way to live but I still love it!  Will just work out more-  in this case take less cabs and just walk more!  LOL!
.
Well my friends started working on the area where we would love to be in  and then have brunch in that area.  I always love the Meat packing district because the stores there are really nice and they are just really interesting.  We walked through the Market are which was always cool and ended up in the old FLORENT…which was one of my favorite diners when I was a student!  It is now called GANSEVOORT 69 named after the address it is at with Telephone number 212-6910069.

When I am in New York it seems like all I do here is eat!  I do a lot of other things here, but they primarily center around food! What can I do, I love food and food is love!  LOL!
I was invited by my dear friend Noel de la Rama for dinner.  Noel is a private chef here in the city, with numerous celebrity clients, so when he chooses a place it is always good!  He chose The Apiary for us that evening and it was a really good find. The food was straight forward and really comforting.  I love the no-nonsense attitude to the menu.
The appetizers were a dream! I love sweet breads! I order each time its on the menu!

CROSBY STREET HOTEL

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Every now and then, you come across special spaces that leave you inspired.  I recently encountered one of these spaces recently and I just want to share this with all of you.  It is called the CROSBY STREET HOTEL!  I was brought here by my friend Bam Mendoza, who is an interior design student here in New York.

I loved the outdoor seating. The minute I spotted the head sculpture in the lobby, I was like WOAH!!!! What is this place?

A wine tasting dinner!

Monday, February 22nd, 2010
A few day ago I was invited by my new” foodie” partners Leo and Marielle Po over for a wine tasting dinner in their place. I always accept the invitation of Leo and Marielle as they are really the most gracious and generous hosts!  Each time I come and have dinner with them my heart and stomach explodes with delight!  It was really a magical evening filled with so much magic and goodness.
The table was so elegantly set up!

The wines were all from the GIMBLETT GRAVELS vineyard! The CRAGGY RANGE chardonay was really something to talk about! We all wanted to take a case home! It was light, lovely and just beautiful!

The big surprise for me that evening was the chef!  None other than chef Stephanie Zubiri!  This lovely young lady has been trying to invite me over for her dinners but unfortunately our schedules were out of sync till that night!
Chef Stephanie Zubiri brought out the appetizers starting with the one bite moulle-fritte. ( not so sure on the spellng? LOL!)

It was such a pleasure consuming Stephanie’s creations, you really feel the passion of her cooking in her dishes! Enough talk!  I now bring you the most sophisticated food porn photos that I have ever shown here!  LOL!
I love the flavor and the texture of this appetizer. The soft tender meaty mussel and the crisp potatoes is a magical combination. There is something quite addicting to this dish, one is simply not enough.

Then came out these triangular philo's with a sweet filling. I found the philo a bit heavy as I am used to the light as air and flaky crusty philo.

I loved this Salmon roe dish! It went so perfectly with the Rose' wine that they were serving. The wines that evening were SPECTACULAR!!! It was such a great experience for me because I am not so well versed with wines. The great thing was that I was seated right next to the man who owns the vineyard that makes the wines so that was really great! I learned a whole lot that evening.

We started out with this super amazing salad made from Jabugo Ham with some micro greens, walnuts, manchego and a truffle honey dressing! It was SUPERB!!!
