THE ACCP AUCTION!
February 8th, 2010This weekend for me was all about art and culture! It all began with the setting up of our Asian Cultural Council of the Philippines (ACCP) Art Auction! This was the very first time that we putting something like this up so we were all very anxious and exctied! The whole event was quite difficult to mount but all these challenges are really super worth it as the benefits are really immeasurable.

We had the auction at the Finale Art File! I love this space! I want to live there! LOL!

There were so many wonderful works of art up for grabs! The pieces were all so strong and moving!

Come to Finale when you can! Its such a beautiful space!
If you have been following my blog I am a board member of the ACCP our primary goal is to raise funds for art scholarships and grants! You can know more about our organization at www.asianculturalcouncil.org.

A group shot with the board members and our some of our grantees!
Every year we come up with ideas on how to raise funds. Some years it is quite successful and some years not. However, this year I think we found our stride! The auction was a PHENOMENAL success! I am not so sure on the actual figures but we did very well! Well enough to be able to send our grantees/scholars abroad!

I felt so tickled pink that my sketches were on display! Happy to tell you that my art work got sold! My Lola Lorna bought one! LOL! However the other one was bought by another patron. Hmm...I should begin framing my work! LOL!

I loved the way the paintings were curated! We were blessed to have on board Mr. Ruel Caasi. A fine artist in his own right. Through his eyes the paintings created some order out of all the chaos. We are deeply grateful for his help! MARAMING MARAMING SALAMAT!

I found this one really cool! I actually want it! Teehee! It is by Reggie Yuson and it is called "Fecund." It is made of fiberglass and car paint! You all know I cannot resist PINK! LOL!

We had previews on Thursday and Friday. Malu and Joanna came early to choose what they could bid on.

Before the auction we had a beautiful dinner at the home of Ernest Escaler. People from all over flew in for our auction. Representatives from the ACCP New York, Japan, Hong Kong and Taipei came over to attend this special occasion.

This is our grantee Jay with the program officer of ACC New York. Cecily D. Cook.

This is Dr. Cuanang our light and angel of the entire project with the hardest working lady for the arts Teresa Rances.

We all converged to the library of Ernest to watch the Cebu inmates' "This Is It" video that he produced!

The next day we had lunch at Milky Way! We all love Milky way! In this photo are the ladies from the ACC all over the world.

My grand aunt Lorna Laurel, with her good friend Pandot Ocampo, chatting with Dr. Cuanang.

The energy of the auction was really exciting; you could feel the whole room tingle with competition!

The room, slowly filling up!

My friend Ronald Pineda came with his beautiful daughter Leona. Here they are with ACCP board members Karen Davila and Teresa Rances.

Serious art collector Julius Babao and famed photographer and gallery owner Isa Lorenzo. I adore her printed shirt! I want it! LOL!

A huge thanks and gratitude to Ms. Vita Sarenas. She is the owner of the Finale Art File who generously lent us her space and her people for our auction! Thank you so very very much! Here she is with our National Artist Arturo Luz and my sea princess Tessa Valdes!
