A Dinner for Lorenzo!

A few days ago I was invited to dinner to meet the son of the Italian Ambassador to the, Mr. Lorenzo Fornari.  The dinner was hosted by the lovely Angelique Villaraza who turned out to be Lorenzo’s neighbor in Paris.

The dinner was held in the beautiful home  Anqelique’s sister Stephanie.  The entire evening was just lovely, It is always nice to meet new people and introduce the Philippines to them.  I just wanted to share some of my photos from that night.
I really loved the table's centerpiece and I was so surprised when I was told that it was Stephanie's young daughter who created it! I found that so charming! I loved the idea of using local fruits and she even used some plastic farm animals in her creation.

I wonder if these dolls are Korean or Japanese in origin?

I fell in LOVE with these huge wood and glass sliding doors! I quickly took down some notes as I think they would really work in my upcoming project.

I love dinners that have place cards as there is an air of formality to them. However, the dinner was actually quite chill and relaxed! I particularly loved the subtle Filipino touches like this tiny bangka. Some other designs were the Bahay Kubo and a Kalabaw! I LOVED IT!

The dinner was beautifully catered by Margarita Fores. She did a Filipino-Italian inspired dinner, which in my opinion she practically invented and does so well!

After the rich soup came the penne primavera topped with local vegetables from different parts of Luzon.

Then came the main course. A really beautifully cooked tenderloin with a giant piece of bone marrow! I gave my bone marrow to Pepper! LOL!

Hi Lorenzo! Thank you for dropping by my little blog! Will definitely keep in touch. We will be in your neck of the woods in the fall so I do hope to get to see you, perhaps dinner or drinks would be delightful. Please come back to the Philippines more often as there are so many islands to explore! In the mean time, take care and see you soon!

Rajo! This was the best imaginable way to be introduced to the Filippines, the food and company were exquisite, so, a big thank you to you too. I’m back in France now but I hope to come by again to indulge. Thank you also for taking and posting the pics, I didn’t have any souvenirs from the evening, except the memories which are very very much alive.
Hope to see you pass by here as well sometime. Stay in touch!
    Lorenzo
