St. Petersburg, RUSSIA!
We are on the second leg of our Russia adventure and we all headed for St. Petersburg. When we landed, we had a beautiful weather and began to notice startling differences from Moscow, its capital. First, there was less traffic and second, the whole place seemed more colorful and less grey. Also, the buildings seemed to be more preserved. It was as if this was the Russia that was in my mind. Just riding in the car from the airport, I already noticed charming buildings filled with art-deco decorations.
We got to our hotel which was the Grand Hotel Europe. This hotel is 135 years old and it had that beautiful charm intact. I felt like a kid again as I was exploring around. The hotel really felt old world but the service was top notch and they had new world facilities like fast internet and even a TV that would pop up from a console with a push of a button. I was really so glad that we stayed there as you could really feel the elegance and splendor of years gone by. Check out their website www.grandhoteleurope.com for more information. I know there are more modern hotels in St. Petersburg but I think that staying here made my stay in Russia more memorable.
