ANNEBISYOSA!

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

Last Saturday was a magical day for Ms. Anne Curtis!  Basically her dream came true!  It’s not everyday that you get to witness a dream coming true to the magnitude that is Anne Curtis.  I was really privileged to have been part of that dream as both her stylists called on me to create 2 looks for what I think is  ”The most fashionable concert in Philippine History”.  I am no  stranger to the local concert scene as I have been lucky enough to dress up a lot of artists in the country.

.

This was one of the gowns that I did for Anne! It's our homage to modern royalty! Normally, it takes me around 3 months to make this but I cannot believe that we did this in 3 days! Granted I had my staff work round the clock to get to the finish line! The dress was so large that it occupied a small room in Araneta! LOL!

The goddess that is Anne!

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011
It is always such a pleasure and a dream each time I get the opportunity to create something for Ms. Anne Curtis-Smith.   She is really a beauty that defines our generation.  Each time I work with her on a project, I feel it’s like making a dress for royalty!  LOL!   She needed a dress for the Esquire event and she wanted something simple but still has that element of danger.
.
We both agreed on the deep raisin color and after several text and email correspondences, we ended up with a gown fit for a Queen!  Inspired by the Spartan Queen Gorga from the film 300!  Anne came for a fitting and it was amazing!  I mean, the woman can do no wrong!  I just loved the gown on her!  I am sharing some photos from our fitting and I just cannot wait to see her in the event.  Just want to say that it is truly a blessing to have her as my muse and I am deeply grateful for her trust in me.

Anne is simply sensational!

I mean she can melt anyone's heart!

Anne Curtis’ designs for L’oreal AD!

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011
I am sure you all have seen the fabulous ad of Anne Curtis for L’oreal!   I just wanted to share that I did a couple of the dresses/gowns/ tops  for the commercial shoot!  If you look at the main page of the STYLEBIBLE site, you can view the entire commercial there!
.
Here are the sketches of the items we made specially for the shoot!  It is always a joy designing for Anne as she really makes us all look amazing!  We did 3 items for the shoot.  The first one is a column gown with a thigh high slit and a really deep back.  the second one is a silk chiffon dress with bias layers and finally, a simple nude silk “bow” blouse.  I just wanted to share this with all of you!

Modern ballerina for Anne!

Sunday, September 4th, 2011
One of the blessings of doing what I do is dressing up some of the most beautiful women in the land!  I have been fortunate  to have as a client Ms. Anne Curtis Smith.  She is really one of the most inspiring young actresses that I have ever met.  Her  beauty is so disarming, however, her kindness and overall charm is what makes everyone including myself  a fan!
.
She had me do a little dress for a wedding she will be attending.  She mentioned she wanted something romantic and feminine. I automatically thought of making her a ballerina dress with a severe killer edge and the results in my mind was really beautiful.  She recently had a fitting and I asked if I could share this with my readers in my blog and she was kind enough to say yes.
.

Here is Anne with my Manang Sonia fitting her dress.

This ballerina dress is made from layers of tulle enhanced with black Chantily lace.

The sheer effects make the feel more edgy and modern. Plus that industrial zipper just anchors everything together.

All of the elements of the dress was done by hand.

.
She also obliged to have photos taken with my staff  because we seriously are all fans of hers here at the House of Laurel!  LOL!   I just want to say thank you to Anne for trusting me with her gowns and dresses.  I am deeply grateful!   Here are her fitting photos.

FHM & my Black Widow dress!

Thursday, August 18th, 2011

I found this online and I just thought that it was really hilarious and interesting at the same time.  I have never realized how one dress on a really special woman can cause such a reaction!  It is heartwarming and flattering that real men love what I designed.  Just wanted to share this with all of you and I am so happy that so many people loved what I did for Ms. Anne.

A Grown-up Prom!

Monday, November 30th, 2009

I recently was invited to a beautiful ball and I wanted the share with all of you how lovely everybody looked.  I really look forward to this annual event because everyone really dresses up and literally have a ball.  In many ways, it’s like a grown up PROM. LOL!

Prom has always been special to me, because this is how I really started as a designer.  My classmates would come to me and ask me to design their dresses and I would tear the sheets out of my notebooks and draw their gowns.  This spirit is what I cherish and try to capture up to this day.  The ball was held at the super chic Makati Shangri-la hotel!  I had a really great time that evening. What is not to love?  There were so many beautiful people dressed so elegantly and the bubbles just kept on coming!  LOL!  Enjoy the photos!

The minute I arrived for cocktails, I spotted the ILONGGO contingent in full force! I consider them my family in the south! BIG HUGS all around!

The Beautiful Anne Curtis!

Friday, November 27th, 2009

I have always loved Ms. Anne Curtis, for me she is  one of the most beautiful young actresses we have in the country.  I actually have never had the chance to dress her up.  It has always been a dream for me to dress this young lady but I never had  the opportunity.

This is about to change!  LOL!  (enter-thunder&lightning!)  The powers of the universe sent her to me and finally I am able to experience dressing up the beautiful Anne Curtis.  Actually it was Liz Uy, who sent her my way. LOL!  She needed a FULL-ON COUTURE gown!  I was just so happy to oblige.

It’s moments like this when I feel like channeling my inner  fairy god-mother! LOL!   I selected two gowns for her to try on and I advised  her that the gown should feel right.  I wanted her to wear my gowns using my Japanese-OBI collection.  I have been collecting these fabrics since I was like 17 and I finally got the chance to use them.

This was the first dress she tried on, its a vanilla silk tafetta column gown with the vintage OBI in the center.

LADY GAGA!

Friday, August 14th, 2009

I was so lucky to have been able to watch the concert of Lady Gaga! We had Freaking FRONT row seats! The tickets were given to me by my darling friend, the stunning Ruffa Gutierrez.  Lady Gaga was everything and more! She really gave everyone a good show! We were on our feet dancing away from the very minute she sang her opening song all the way to the end! I loved the energy! The entire Araneta Coliseum was full to the rafters and you could feel the whole place just gyrating to Lady Gaga’s music!

It was a really fun experience, and a couple of my friends even said that they were “bitin,” but I always feel and think that the best shows are those you leave wanting more!
