My Easter Sunday spent in San Telmo was really memorable. Each step I took gave me images of interest and curiosity. I actually love getting lost when I travel because I am never certain of what I am going to experience. We had a few good hours in San Telmo and my Tito Rey made arrangements for lunch.

This is Bar Dorego. It is an iconic cafe/restaurant in the area. You can really see the passing of time here is this beloved bar.

Tango in Argentina is a way of life. The beauty of this dance culture is that it is fully ingrained and integrated into the lives of the people here. I have heard about these dance halls called MILLONGAS that is home to the dance. This is the place where normal people come to enjoy the dance. One of the most beautiful halls that I have ever visited is the Confiterial Ideal.

Founded in 1912 by Manuel Rosendo Fernandez, it is located just a few meters away from Corrientes Ave and Suipaha. One of the most famous corners of Buenos Aires.

After that exciting but exhausting day in the Iguazu falls, we were so happy to be back to the comforts of our hotel in Malabia. However there would be not rest for the wicked as there were several things still to do in BA! On top of the list was SHOPPING! We would not be Pinoy tourists if this was not on the agenda.

Leica ready for some shopping action!

Ever since I saw the movie “The Mission”, I have always wanted to visit the great IGUAZU. This spectacular water falls is bordered by Argentina and Brazil. We visited the falls on the Easter weekend which was CRAZEEE! There were more than 11,0000 visitors that day but everything was so organized.

This is me in front of the entrance of the park. The rainforest is slowly disappearing and if we are not careful, this whole place could be gone in 20 years. Efforts are now being taken to take care of the remaining rain forests. I believe the more we discuss about the issue the better it will be for the future generations.

At the crack of dawn my group headed on to Iguazu! Iguazu is where you will find one of the most astonishing sights– the “CATARATAS DO IGAUACU,” otherwise known as the Igauzu waterfalls. We actually booked late in the game and since we were visiting during Holy Week, we were part of thousands of visitors!

We took the red-eye flight to Iguazu, which was only an hour away from BA. This for me was a must visit as it is considered one of the wonders of the world!

When one thinks of Argentina automatically one thinks of Tango! It is a passionate and deeply moving dance filled with emotion and often sadness. It is a dance that originated in dark dance halls and brothels.
However, today it is a pure art form. There are a hundred tango shows in BA, some amazing and others that you just should have missed. My friends and I left the decision of choosing the show to Tita Chita Wilcox who has been coming to Buenos Aires for almost 8 years now just to dance the tango.

Food is integral to my joy of traveling. In Argentina they have two major things that you must try. One is the beef at a Parilla and the other is the Emapanada. We were going to have a Parilla feast later in the trip so when we were told that it would be an empanada pit stop for lunch, my hear skipped a beat. LOL! We were going to one of the most beloved empanada shops in Beunos Aires it is called “El Sanjuanino” it is around 50 years old and the whole place still gets packed.

Look for this sign! The address is Posadas 1515 Recoleta, Buenos Aires tel. 4805-2683/4804-2909 the website is www.elsanjuanino.com

Visiting cemeteries are usually not on my to-do list when I travel. In fact, I do not recall any other cemeteries that I have visited other than those we have in Manila. So when I heard that we would be visiting the Recolete Cementery I said to myself “HUH?” However, I am so glad that I did go because the place is SPECTACULAR!

En route to the Recoleta, which is like a slice of Paris in the heart of South America, I saw a monument for Evita Peron.

I was really so happy that our hotel was located in the Palermo district. This is the area where the creative souls of Buenos Aires converge.

The area has lots of these charming spaces that are filled with so much interest and character.
