I Heart Taipei!
Monday, October 18th, 2010Asian Cultural Council Art Auction
Tuesday, January 19th, 2010I sit on the board on the Asian Cultural Council! The council’s main purpose is to find funding for artists to be sent abroad! This years main fund-raising activity is very exciting! We are going to have a major, as in MAJAAAH!, (LOL!) art auction on February 6 at the Finale Art File. There will be previews on February 4 and 5 so people can view the pieces before the auction begins.
We are currently working on the website so that people can view the art for sale online! I do hope that all the readers of my blog can help me spread the word. This is really going to benefit the artists. I love the idea of artists helping other artists! Our goal is to be able to raise enough to have at least 10 grants!
I know that this is going to be possible! Please spread the word!

ASIAN CULTURAL COUNCIL ART AUCTION ON FEBRUARY 6
Rare works by Arturo Luz, BenCab, Betsy Westendorp, Lao Lianben, Don Salubayba, Elmer Borlongan, Jon Santos, Wire Tuazon; plus 60 others will be made available at the Asian Cultural Council Art Auction on Saturday, February 6, 4pm at the Finale Art File on Pasong Tamo, Makati. Previews are on February 4 and 5.
There is a wealth of talents in this country that only need a chance to become outstanding artists. The Asian Cultural Council Philippines (ACCP) raises funds to help make this happen by providing grants for them to learn from and be exposed to other artists in Asia and in the United States.
Some noted ACCP grantees include Lucrecia Kasilag and Jose Maceda (both national artists for music); Tikoy Aguiluz (noted film maker); Jose Joya (CCP Gawad award and national artist for visual arts) and Alice Reyes (founder of Ballet Philippines) to name a few. The ACC fellowship program has supported over 600 Asian and American artist scholars since its inception.
The Finale Art File is located in the La Fuerza Building (Gate1), 2214 Pasong Tamo, Makati.

An Evening with Ernest!
Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009I recently had the opportunity to have dinner with Mr. Ernest Escaler. He is one of my personal idols and I was more than happy to comply to his invitation. The dinner was in honor of our friends Artus Concepcion and his partner Jonathan Richter. They are spending the holidays in the Philippines.
Ernest is our Chairman of the Asian Cultural Council. I sit on the board and he has really influenced my thoughts on philanthropy and art appreciation. He prepared a sumptuous meal composed of ingredients that he grew himself! How many of us can say that? After the meal, he toured us around his beautiful home filled with the most incredible art. I really enjoyed the evening, as it was one of those super intimate dinners. Hope you’re all doing well!

Ernest is in the center being flanked by Artus, Nix and Jonathan.

We started the evening by enjoying the cool breeze of the Philippine december air. I wish it was the weather was always this agreeable.
The ACCP Party!
Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009My goodness! It’s like I am on a party overdrive! LOL! I certainly love the holidays, it seems you never run out of parties to go too!
My most recent one was an Asian Cultural Council Christmas cocktail party hosted by Patrick Reyno. It is always such a joy to visit Patrick’s pad, as it is like going to a museum! LOL! No wall is left bare! Every available surface is decked with the most modern voices in the South East Asian art scene. Patrick is one serious collector! I am just happy to be invited! Just being there ignites my creative juices. The party was short and sweet as we all had other affairs that evening! No rest for the wicked!
LOL!

Jon-Jon and Manny! I like Manny's shirt, wonder what it is?

I-LAND Opening Night!
Friday, January 23rd, 2009It was the opening night of I-LAND at the CCP last night. For those of you wanting a taste of HawaiIan culture, this is the show to see! I found myself gyrating my hips and doing the hula after the show.
The show is all about the life of Keo Woolford. He is the star of this one man show. It showcases his journey from a troubled past, all the way to HULA enlightenment.
I was so happy that my friends came to see opening night! We all had a fantastic time! A big bonus is the fact that we had the chance to see more of the art that decorated the lobby of the little theater at the CCP. We all were in love with the space and we all kept on imagining different events that could take place there. I, for one, would want to have a fun party with a great DJ! LOL!

All the way from NYC! Trystan being sandwiched by his gorgeous cousins Vicky and Liz! Thank you for coming!
I encourage all of you to see the show. It’s something different and it opens your mind to a culture that seems so similar, but is really quite different. The show will be ongoing till this Sunday, January 25. The proceeds of the show will be benefiting the scholarship program of the Asian Cultural Council. Do call the CCP and catch I-LAND!
See you soon!

An ACC Party!
Wednesday, December 24th, 2008For over a year now I have been part of this organization called the Asian Cultural Council. It is a council that raises money to give grants to artists from all fields and give them the opportunity to further enhance their art. Recently one of my personal idols who is a trustee for the ACC was in town. Her name is Josie Natori. I have always admired this woman as she was really one of the first Filipinos to put the Philippines in the international fashion scene. I love her strength and her personal style is flawless!
The host of the evening was Patrick Reyno, he is also on the board of the ACC. He prepared such a wonderful evening filled with bright conversation and good food. My highlight of the evening was when we moved to the living room for dessert and experienced the voice of the tenor Ramon! I was enthralled! He was AMAZING! For the first time this season I really felt the spirit of Christmas!
Merry Christmas everyone!
See you soon!
