Wednesday, June 1st, 2011MY PINK PARTY!
Thursday, May 19th, 2011Today is my birthday! I don’t usually have a big party but this year, I decided to have a really big and special one! For the past 10 years when I do have a party I always like to celebrate with the color Pink! I use this as a symbol for strength, compassion and understanding. I have to thank my friend Cecile Van-Straten for sharing this video in her blog because it captures the exact feeling I want to convey on my birthday! I will be celebrating tonight with my dear friends and I cannot wait to be enveloped in an ocean of PINK!

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010
When the box came in, my heart began to pitter-patter!

I love the label of CELESTINA! It is so FILIPINO!

I was so excited that I felt like I was a child again!

The tote came with a cotton bag with an embroidered logo

My beautiful BIRTHDAY TOTE!

The wooden logo inside the bag, so CHIKA!!!

SIde view!

- A lovely note from CELESTINA!!!!

I thought the note that came with the bag provided a really nice touch!

The tote came with a giant safety pin( I think that is for when you keep and store the bag in the cotton protector that came with the tote) and a mirror.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ATHENA!

This is my lovely god-daughter Athena with her Mom Tessa.

Athena with her Dad Dennis and Mom Tessa.

- The whole group getting ready to help Athena blow her candles on her birthday cake!

I love pabitins! I think this is common to all countries with a latin influence.
Happy Birthday Nix!
Friday, November 13th, 2009Nix recently celebrated his birthday in Los Angeles. Cedric organized a dinner at the O-Bar, which becomes a really happening place after dinner. We were a neat little group composed of friends and family. We had a super time celebrating his birthday.
Forgive me for becoming cheesy, but my life has really been enriched by having my partner in my life! He is such a positive influence and I am really so blessed!
Happy birthday NIX!

Nix's birthday outfit!

Preparing to go out but was temporarily glued on the TV watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta! It's a really horrible show but it's so addicting! LOL!
Tessa’s Neverending Birthday!
Thursday, September 24th, 2009I found it so amusing when Tessa recently invited me to a dinner party for her birthday! I have attended 4 other parties in her honor and one more dinner is not so unusual! LOL! This time, the dinner was being hosted by Anton San Diego. It was really an intimate dinner of 10 people and it was really fun! Anton held it in his club/lounge The Establishment. We had the entire place all to ourselves!
The dinner was prepared by the super talented chef Godfrey Laforteza. I first tried his cuisine in Jakarta and have remained a fan ever since! His specialty is Asian fusion and the evening meal was really yummy! The dinner was a huge success; it had all the right ingredients, perfects setting, amazing food and the stories… If only the walls of Establishment could talk! Happy birthday, my darling Tessa!
SHANG-Highlights!
Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009Shanghai is one of my favorite places to visit! I love that it’s only 3 hours away and the fact that I have so many dear friends who live there. Each time I come, Nix and I do our personal rounds of restaurants and a wee bit of shopping. Even if my Mandarin is close to nil, I find it quite easy to get around. I guess we’re just lucky because there are a couple of taxi nightmares that my friends have experienced. What I am sharing with you are the highlights from this recent trip, a photo essay of random photos that made my 4 day escape quite memorable!

Each time I come to Shanghai, I give my friend Angelo Guesse a call! I love the fact that even if he is so busy, he takes the time out to meet me and have a meal! He has been in China for quite some time now and I enjoy his company very much.

When in Shanghai, I never fail to come to Din Tai Fung! It's a Tawainese restaurant chain that is all over Asia. Wish someone would take it to Manila! They have really yummy food! This Green beans with minced pork is a favorite.

Modern Chinese ART! I am so enthralled by this new wave of Modern Chinese artists. I find the images they produce both funny and sublime!

The bigger picture! I apologize because I did not get to find out who painted it! Would anyone know who did this painting?

This is my friend Eddie Fung. He is just one of the sweetest persons on the planet! Did I mention that he is also a talented fashion designer? He graduated from Parsons and he is set to launch his menswear collection called "COMPOUND" very soon! I have seen some of the samples and they are beautiful!

I just love walking around when I travel. It's something I don't get to do in Manila as I am always in the car! Rushing...rushing..rushing. Having my get away gives me the luxury to just walk and enjoy the scenery.

CUTE BOYS! Shanghai offers a bevy of hot eye candy! We met this super sweet Barcelona Native Alfons during this trip and we invited him over to Manila! He was so nice and not to mention SO CUTE! AYAYAY! Mucho caliente! LOL!

Fast friends! This is Kyle. Although we just met on this trip, we have been introduced by Bob through Skype. He was just absolutely so fun to be with! Glad to finally meet him! We had a funny experience over dimsum lunch on this trip. Because none of us spoke Chinese and the Dim-sum menu had only photos and no English translations, we just pointed at what we thought looked good.

We ended up ordering a virtual atkins diet dimsum! We ended up ordering 3 pork dishes, a duck dish, chicken and beef! LOL! It was funny when all the food came! Good thing we were all so hungry and inhaled it all!

We then ordered a vegetable dish and thought that lotus root sounded yummy. Well, it looked interesting enough. Wish it tasted good though! LOL! We all had a taste and left it alone after that.

New Friends! I fell in Love with Ms. Anna Chung! She is Korean by way of Sydney and I am in love with her! Good thing that she visits Manila often for work, as she is a top shot international lawyer! I can't wait to take her out on a date! LOL!

Olivier! I have not seen Olivier for over 3 years! He now lives in Beijing. He used to be based in Manila and had lots of fun times when he was here. Happy that I spent the weekend with him!

We all were invited to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce during my stay! We had the most fun table! At the end of the ball, we were the only ones left dancing. Who could resist Michael Jackson and Madonna! That's Olivier, Eddie, Anna, Effie and me! Doing a bit of "La isla Bonita"!

The Canadian ball was really fun! My personal highlight was spending time with my favorite heterosexual man! Albert seen here with his wife and Bob and Effie!

KYOTO!
Wednesday, May 20th, 2009I want to share with you how I spent my birthday. Originally Nix and I were to suppose to take the train to Kyoto, then head to Nara and Kobe. The thing is, Nix had to fly back home earlier than expected for an important family engagement. I was really sad at first at the thought of spending my birthday alone. However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I should just go take this opportunity to enjoy myself in solitude. I have always enjoyed the my own company! LOL! I have not been able to really travel alone for a really long time, so I took this opportunity to just enjoy my trip.
Kyoto is really an easy place to navigate, and if you like quiet shrines and the most beautiful zen gardens, then this is the city for you. I, for one, wanted to go back and check out the geisha place called Gion, where the geisha is trained and you see them all over the place. I even saw a show with geisha performing! It was quite a spectacle. I had a really amazing time on my birthday. I was able to pray and really meditate on the blessings that God has given me. I was also had the time just to be still, quiet and listen to my thoughts. I recommend everyone to do this at least once in your life – to spend your birthday alone. It’s really a special experience. I was not sad for one minute because I know that I am loved and that I have enough love inside me to go around the world 20 times and still have some left for 10 more! Until then….I pray and thank God for everything!

- I took the Shinkansen express train to Kyoto. This is the most efficient train system in the whole world! It’s accuracy is like 30 seconds! GRABE! Oh..When I left Tokyo, the N1H1flu reached the Kansai area, which includes Kyoto. I was scared at first, but hey, I am in Japan! These people are cleanliness freaks, so I just got a mask and marched on!

This is the inside of my box! Is it not the most beautiful lunch on the go you have ever seen? It was really yummy, and there were like so many different flavors and textures that I just had the best time eating lunch!

I decided to walk around before checking in my hotel. Love taking bike shots when I travel. Note to self...I should buy a bike, as I really love the way it looks! LOL!

This is a store selling "furoshiki," which is the art of tying scarves and fabric to create carrying parcels. I love this thing, and I even bought a book about it once. It's so chic!

Hmmm....Gluten BBQ, anyone? This smelled so good, but I did not try it, as I was saving my appetite for my special dinner tonight.

Kyoto is not as big as Tokyo - it's like Tokyo lite! I walked to the Yasaka shrine. It was so bright and sunny that day.

These are prayers written on paper and knotted on a wire surrounding a post in the shrine. It was so pretty!

This is me in front of the Chion-in temple. Mainit na ha! If you plan to come soon, bring summer clothes!

I found the Chion-in temple so meditative that I spent half an hour here just praying and meditating.
