The materials used that evening run the gamut from sippy straws,  rice sacks, flour sacks, newspapers, paper cups, twine, shower curtains, plastic bags, bottle caps…and many many more!  It felt like a real life project runway challenge.  The major difference was that Both Jojie Lloren and I were part of it!  LOL!

I was given the task to create a gown using plastic bags.  I wanted something very colorful and fun at the same time. I used around 16,000 pieces of this plastic bag and created a gown that spelled exuberance!

The event was directed by  Robby Carmona and he transformed the Rigodon ball room of the Manila Peninsula into a green haven!  The show had a really happy vibe to eat!  Everyone was relaxed!  It felt like the days when we were all young designers in a design competition as we were creating these dresses from the most unusual materials.  Here are some photos from Green Couture!  Congratulations Candy!  Thank you for having us!

The plastic bag dress!

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

My friend, Candy Dizon should be proclaimed an Ambassador of the Earth!  Last year, she had an extremely successful tree planting event.  This year, she is organizing a fashion show called Green Couture!  Rounding up some of the Philippines’ best fashion designers in creating dresses made from trash! When Candy asked me to join, I said yes without even hesitating!  I think this is going to be a really fun and worthy cause.   The details of the events are attached below and I am asking all of you to please help Candy make this event a resounding success!  Tickets are at 1,000 pesos each and you can get in touch with Candy via dizon.candy@gmail.com.  See  you all there!

Help me save the Earth!

Tree Planting and Nurturing in the Mt. Makiling Forest Reserve (MFR)
in cooperation with Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems.

Generally, this project aims to reforest an open area in MFR
Specifically, it aims to:
1) Plant 1,000 indigenous seedlings in Year 2010;
2) Serve as a show window/demonstration area of a successful tree planting project;
3) Contribute in climate change mitigation; and
4) Improve the ecological balance and environmental condition of the area.

Ayala land allocated 4,000 square meters for this tree planting and I need 100 participants who will help me in this project.

P750.00/person entitles you to 10 seedlings, bus transportation (meeting place to follow) breakfast and lunch.

The Earth and I thank you in advance for giving support by joining!!!

SEX & THE CITY!

Friday, June 4th, 2010
I am a HUGE, as in MASSIVE, FAN of Sex & The City! I practically devoured each episode when it was showing on HBO! I took down notes with each episode of places to visit in NYC and jotted down fashion trends as dictated by the show’s stylist Patricia Field. I fell in love with the MOVIE and I even bought the book that it was based on. So you can just imagine how excited I was when I heard about the sequel!
I was invited to 3 movie premieres of the movie sequel! However, I was NOT able to see the movie!!! To make a long story short, every movie premier fell on a night that I also had a really important dinner engagement that I had to attend to! I did get to attend most of the pre-movie-cocktail party which was pretty fun but I STILL HAVE YET TO SEE THE MOVIE!
The last two invites happened on the same day and the same time and practically 30 meters from each other! These were the PREVIEW and MERCEDES BENZ premieres. Since they were really so close to each other, it was a breeze to attend both events. I started with the Preview party and had a glass of champagne! How chic is that? Then I moved to the Mercedes party, which was actually the very first one to invite me so I thought that it was just polite to stay a this party longer.
