DIVINE’S Rumble in the Jungle!

Tuesday, December 27th, 2011
Every year  I look forward to Divine’s “themed” Christmas parties. She holds one of the best Christmas parties around.  Everyone really gets into the program and goes on full gear.  I remember one year it was the 50′s and another year it was Cowboys and Indians.  This year’s theme is “JUNGLE FEVER”!
.
One thing really great about Divine is that she is always on time!  I have travelled with her many times over and she has never missed out on our prescribed call time.
.
However, her friends are a completely different story!  LOL!  Nix and I won the early bird prize and got there at 845 pm even if the invitation said 7pm.  We had a perfectly good excuse as we were watching Divine and Tessa Valdes on  TV5′s Who wants to be a Millionaire.   Both of them were playing for the Childhaus charity which is something very close to Divine’s heart.  I was their “call a friend” and it was so nerve wracking!  There were such a riot to see on TV!  In fact they missed out me saying the right answer so they had to use another lifeline. LOL!   It was still pretty successful as both of them won 400,000.00 pesos for Childhaus.  That is still quite a sum.
.
Divine’s home was transformed into a virtual jungle with trees, folliage and all that jazz!   Nix was super chic in a print mix of leopard and African-esque patterns.  I came as Divine and Vic’s dog LIEMPO!  LOL!  The spread was very Divine!  LECHON and LECHON!!!   Oh there was also Crispy Pata!  LOL!  It still baffles me how amazing she looks when she literally eats like 2 famished construction workers!  LOL!
.

Nix and Khaz were both in Proud Race! I really love that young line.

I came as Liempo! LOL!

Nix and Khaz pay homage to the Mother! LOL!

Divine's main wing man, Tbram as Barok! LOL!

.
After dinner, the amazing guests arrived.  We would run to the door to see all the amazing costumes.  The volume of the party progressively got to a deafening pitch as the evening deepened.  Much to the delight of all of us her “Becki” friends.
.

Xtina, Rxcy and Divine!

Bambi really outdid herself! I adored her Parrot costume!

Florence and Tina Daniac were so chic in their noire plumes!

Jake literally came as a tree in the jungle! While Matt came as Little riding hood... Hmmm...I guess pwede na rin forest ang jungle? LOL! Shahani came as a very chic safari traveller!

Elmer and Tbram in matching prints!

RCXY ended up being voted best dressed in his Apocalypto inspired costume! Bravo!

New couple on the block are my loves! Bianca and Carlos! I can't wait what these creative kindred spirits bring in 2012.

.
The highlights of the parties were the several games that we play  like Pinoy Genio!  Which is always  a hoot.  Then the main event which is the Bingo games which are the only thing that keeps everyone still and quiet as the prizes are really wonderful!
.

Here is Mark trying to get "booking" in the Pinoy Genuio game. He eventually got it in the nick of time.

His partner was Dennis who was really good! Can you find his angry bird?

I was so happy to see Veejay with his LOVE! Ikaw na Veejay! Really happy for you!

Veejay and Martin in matching Safari looks!

Dennis, Martin and Elmer in various themes of the jungle!

Patrick was really chic in this deconstructed taupe ensemble! I am so proud of him because he is slowly carving out a niche for himself as a stylist in the metropolis.

All beautiful creatures! This is the new age of the L to R ladies! LOL!

Nica was really so chic! Chaneling Mrs. Imelda Cojuanco!

We're all set to play Bingo!

Animalistic chic! Nica and my baby girl Stacy! I am so happy to have her back from NYC!

.
I am grateful to Divine and Vic as I truly consider them more than friends.  They are family to me and Nix!  It was a really fun party but everyone of us were really affected by the recent turn of events in CDO, Iligan and Dumaguete.  My family is from Dumaguete and I have loads of friends in both CDO and Iligan.  Divine and I have been quietly doing all that we can to gather resources to send aid and help.  This is not a one time effort for us and it should not be the same for you reading this.
.
Let us all continue to work hard for the the regions’ rehabilitation.  Let us all find ways to never let this happen again.  These kind of tragedies could have seriously been avoided if we were more vigilant and mindful of mother nature.  Keep well my friends!

The Lady GAGA Christmas party!

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011
One of my personal highlights in my calendar is our Christmas party with my employees.  I love it because it is a time where we can all just have fun, not think of work and have a great time.
.
We always begin with a mass.  I feel strongly about this because I feel that God is at the center of my life and has always been my source of strength and wisdom.  I was so happy that I was able to celebrate Mass with my favorite priest Father Ramon Merino.  He never fails to inspire me and anyone that hears his mass. His message to us that day was clear and simple – that there is a clear difference from a man who has knowledge from a man who is wise.  Therefore, the thrust is to use our knowledge for wisdom.  The second message is that: let us strive to continually be a blessing to everyone.  I love that!  Be a blessing to another human being. I think that will be one of my personal mantras.
.

We celebrated our Christmas party at the Architectural Center. We filled the place to the brim!

.
After the mass we have lunch and then we have show and finally several bingo games.
.
Each year, my company Christmas party has a theme and these themes are really taken into heart.  This yea,r our theme is LADY GAGA!  Seeing all my staff and employees decked out as Lady GAGA was really magical!
.

.
We also had a special host and guest that day – Marissa Sanchez!  She was really a blessing.  My Mom loves her and so do we.  In fact, we all consider her as family as she teases every one she meets that she will be my wife!  OMG!  Seriously though,  Marissa was so amazing!  She even gifted all 400 plus of my employees!  This made me tear up.  Thank you so much Marissa!   My dear friend Jujiin and Paolo served as judges and Paolo even gifted everyone with a song!  He was really good!  I think Paolo Castro should seriously consider singing more often!
.

Marissa Sanchez! WE LOVE YOU!!!!

Marissa was such a performer!

.
We all had a super time with all the dance numbers, song numbers and games!  I love all my employees as we truly are like family!  Every year, I have a motto contest that will paraphrase in the heart and minds of everyone in my company.  My employees think of the mottos and we award it at the party.  The Motto will be printed out and will be prominently displayed in all the work areas.   For 2012 our mottos are!
.
1. WE MUST BE ONE TO BECOME NUMBER 1!
2. QUALITY BEGINS WITH ME!
3. WALANG IMPOSIBLE SA TAONG RESPONSABLE!
.

See everyone's smile! I LOVE IT!!!

.
Hope you’re all well and feeling the spirit of Christmas!

Noel’s Homecoming!

Monday, December 28th, 2009

What I love about Christmas is that so many friends from all over the world come home to celebrate Christmas. There is nothing like a Filipino Christmas!  We just know how to celebrate this important holiday like no other race on the planet!

I recently had the pleasure to join a super chic homecoming dinner for one of our dearest friends Noel de la Rama!  Noel has not been home for more than a decade. He resides in New York and is a personal chef for super famous people.  Currently, he is the personal chef of Mr. Dustin Hoffman!  Noel is like my own personal Zagat guide, giving me tips on the latest, hottest, best eats in New York City!  Apart from that, Noel is really one great guy!  We all love him!

He decided to surprise his best friend Junie Rodriquez with his home coming!  Tita Fe (Junie’s Mom) was in cahoots with the whole surprise!  The evening was an immense success!  The meal was lovingly prepared amidst the most chic environment!  Tita Fe & Junie are really my personal lifestyle heroes!

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

Each year I look forward to Divine Lee‘s Christmas Party! I love going to her Christmas parties because it is always fancy dress up and everyone, as in, EVERYONE is game!

This year, the theme was Cowboys and Indians! It was a riot! Divine and her angels transformed her apartment into the wild wild West! OMG! The details were incredible, cactus plants, play horses and a gigantic TEEPEE! I came in as Boss Hoggs from the Dukes of Hazzard while Nix came as an Indian Chief!

Divine as the ultimate Bingo girl! Here she is channeling a modern version of Mae West! LOL!

Monday, December 21st, 2009

One of my favorite people in the fashion industry is Randy Ortiz. I have known Randy my entire career and he has been one of the nicest people. Each year, he hosts a Christmas party uniting all of his friends in fashion. I was not able to take my camera so I am borrowing the great photos of JC Buendia.

Randy Ortiz is in the center holding the cake of our December birthday celebrtants! Jing Monis, Toots Tolentino, Marco Protacio and Roan Espino.

Christmas in San Juan!

Friday, December 18th, 2009

I just had the most wonderful Christmas party in the home of my Grand Aunt Lorna Laurel. I have always admired my Tita Lorna. She is always so elegant and beautiful. She hosted a party in my honor at her home. I have fond memories of her house as a child. I remember playing in the garden amidst the giant trees. The house was built in the ’20s and Tita Lorna and her amazing staff have kept the property immaculately. I was so thrilled when I walked in as you could really feel the Christmas spirit. The house actually reminds me of the movie Gone with the Wind!LOL!

Enjoy the photos!

My Company Christmas Party!

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009
Each year, I look forward to my company’s Christmas party! Who would have thought that 16 years later, my employees would reach close to 400 persons!  This for me is my greatest achievement.  Ever since I started, my dream was to provide jobs for  my fellow Filipinos, jobs that they would be proud to announce to the whole world!

This year was extremely challenging for all of us. Amidst the natural disasters and economic upheaval, the resilience of the Filipino shines on!  This is the spirit of our Christmas party.  I asked everyone to wear RED because this has always been a lucky color for me.  It was a simple celebration that started out with a holy Mass and ended up with disco dancing!  I am blessed because I have really wonderful people surrounding me!  They are all so dedicated, loyal and over all good hard working people.   I just wanted to share the photos with all of you!  Hope you’re all enjoying the fantastic cool weather!   I LOVE IT!

We manage to fill up the Architectural Center which is conveniently located 5 minutes from our office.

Christmas under and over the sea!

Monday, December 14th, 2009

Christmas season in The Philippines is really the best!  We start hearing Christmas songs on the radio as early as September and most of us keep the Christmas decor till February! LOL!  It is almost tradition for me and my friends to attend Tessa & Dennis Valdes‘s Christmas party…or should I say EXTRAVAGANZA!

Their parties get more festive and over the top as the years progress.  One year, they had a machine that would snow inside their house.  This year’s theme was an underwater Christmas!  They transformed their home into an underwater world worthy of Nemo and Ariel!

The foyer of the house had beach balls that we were all instructed to write down our wishes for next year.
