ANNEBISYOSA!

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

Last Saturday was a magical day for Ms. Anne Curtis!  Basically her dream came true!  It’s not everyday that you get to witness a dream coming true to the magnitude that is Anne Curtis.  I was really privileged to have been part of that dream as both her stylists called on me to create 2 looks for what I think is  ”The most fashionable concert in Philippine History”.  I am no  stranger to the local concert scene as I have been lucky enough to dress up a lot of artists in the country.

.

This was one of the gowns that I did for Anne! It's our homage to modern royalty! Normally, it takes me around 3 months to make this but I cannot believe that we did this in 3 days! Granted I had my staff work round the clock to get to the finish line! The dress was so large that it occupied a small room in Araneta! LOL!

The BLACK EYED PEAS Experience part 2

Friday, October 28th, 2011
The  BEP concert was really such a super amazing experience!  I think it was different because The Black Eyed Peas group was emotional.  I heard that after this concert, they will be taking a break.  Most of the members wanted to pursue other advocacies and other dreams and I think that although it is sad for us fans, I do have to commend them for doing so.  A life has to be lived and if it means taking a breather to do so, then so be it!
.

They were all such giving performers.

Taboo looks like he is waving at me! LOL!

So cool it is painful!

Shaking her booty!

LOVE these guys!

Raise your hands!

D+V!!!!

This is the N+R version! LOL!

We were all so happy!

She was rocking this pink dress! Tessa wants her own!

It lit up in the dark!

Fergie has an amazing voice!

This was so cool! I think it was either Wil I Am or Apl de Ap in there! Can anyone verify?

The guys in the building behind must have had a great free show! Those were good seats with aircon pa! LOL!

ROBOCOP MUCH!

Then came some Latin horns!

And a super talented guitar player!

.
The show was unusual because it was longer than I expected.  We were still partying till 11pm and the BEP were giving it their all!  My favorite part of the show was the Filipino  tribute done by Apl de Ap!   I feel this man is a modern day hero to all Filipinos living out their dreams!  He showed us all that despite his very challenging beginning in life, that if we work hard and dream harder, then we all can end up like him!  This really made me tear up as we were all up there with him celebrating our Filipino culture and our heritage.
.
Apl de Ap has given back to his community and to his country in enumerable ways and now he has another campaign up his sleeves. His “You Can Be Anything” campaign!   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8ds5ZdWp_4.  I love the message and I will in my little way support it!  He makes me super proud to be Filipino and this is very important.

Costume change no. 3

I loved this moment with the phones in the night sky!

This was my personal highlight of the show!

.
The best experiences in life leave you excited, exhilerated, energized and pumped up and inspired!  All this I got from my BLACK EYED PEAS experience!  I wish you all could have been there to share this with me!
.

Then the party started again!

My girls!

BLACK EYED PEAS Experience part 1

Thursday, October 27th, 2011
I LOVE THE BLACK EYED PEAS!   Listening to their music makes me happy and I practically listen to them every other day as it is the best cardio music in the world!  Their music is infectiously happy and their message is always positive.
.
I have never seen them perform live so when the opportunity came that they were having a concert in Manila, I was not going to pass on this chance.  Good thing, my friends all had the same idea so our sea princess, Tessa Valdes arranged everything and got us great seats!  Although the mosh pit seemed like the best idea, I was perfectly content where we are.
.

Nix with my Cebuano gals! BOM and Pau! I adore them! I also love how the BEP song Boom-Boom ! Pow! is like an homage to their energy!

Spotted my friends Leo, Vic, JP and Eric.

These girls were ready to party! Leah and Raya! So pretty and fun!

Scored my ticket! YAHOO!

My Sea Princess Tessa was already in a Halloween mood!

Here she is with one of the best Governors we have in the country! Gov. L-Ray Villafuerte.

My darling Malu joined our gang! I can feel the party starting!

Check out the nails of Tessa attached to her Halloween gloves!

.
The traffic was horrendous as it seemed all roads led to the Mall of Asia concert grounds.  The weather was cooperating as there was this cool October breeze in the air.  I can feel Christmas already.  LOL!
.

The stage!

.
This cool air soon changed with the intensity of the Black Eyed Peas!    I felt like I was in a  circuit training of sorts.  We would be jumping up and down and they would give everyone a few minutes of rest.  LOL!   I loved it!  It was the perfect work out ever!  Jumping up and down with their music and gyrating to the beat. It was like a open air club.
.

The speakers transformed into the dancers!

Will.I.Am is like a computer when he sings!

The costumes were great! Military future! I like how the lights reflected on it.

I love Fergie!

She is such a cool girl!

Her voice is pam-birit! Bagong kampyon levels!

Apl.de.Ap is a Filipino HERO!

This section was all about Will.I.AM!

Change costume!

Rick Owen or Gareth Pugh on Taboo?

Apl de Ap has boundless energy!

I hear he can out party anyone!

He really made sure we all had a great time! Seeing him makes me a really proud Pinoy!

Fergie's costume change! I love how she is looking at me in this shot! I LOVE YOU FERGIE!!!!!!

HI!

She has great abs!

Boundless energy!

.
What I love about the BEP is the diversity they represent.  They all come from different backgrounds and cultures yet they all work together seamlessly and create the most amazing music that will have them enshrined in musical history forever.
.
I felt a bit emotional with the show because I heard that BEP will be taking a hiatus to give time for all the members to pursue other dreams and advocacies.  There was a moment on stage that Fergie’s voice was shaking saying she will miss her brothers.  I felt for them as they are like family to each other.
.

What a super show!

The lighting was really good!

THE BLACK EYED PEAS!!!! They all mentioned their favorite Pinoy dishes. Taboo- Dinuguan! Will I am - Chicken Adobo! Fergie - Nilaga! Apl de Ap - Bistek tagalog!

HANEP!

.
I have to create 2 entries for my experience as I have loads of photos to share.  I hope you enjoy the photos as much I as had fun taking them.  I have a tip for you: blast on some BEP music as you take a look at the photos for a more joyful experience!

Lea Salonga…Your Songs!

Monday, December 14th, 2009

I have been so busy these past few days that I have not been able to blog!  The Christmas season is my busiest month, filled with events, weddings, parties…CRAZY TRAFFIC!  LOL!   One of my most recent projects  involved me doing the clothes for Ms. Lea Salonga‘s  latest concert.  Lea and I have known each other for more than 30 years!  We were both child actors in Repertory Philippines.  She played the lead princess in The King and I and I was a “dakilang extra”!  LOL! From the moment I met her, I have been a HUGE fan!  I have all her records and I try to watch all her shows!  I have the great fortune of making most of her clothes for her shows and I love every moment of it!

The show was under the musical helm of Gerard Salonga and the Filharmonika!

Rock & Fashion for a Cause!

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Rock and Roll plus Fashion is always a good mix! After getting well from the flu and feeling so much better (Thank GOD!), I decided to pop in at the HOY HOY ONDOY event! It was spearheaded by Tim Yap, Jay Ortega (who incidentally is the director for Project Runway Philippines season 2) and Saga Productions!

The event was a combination of many things! First, it was fundraising and awareness campaign to continue to help the victims of the flood.  Second, it was a ROCK CONCERT! There were so many rock bands that donated their time and talent for FREE so that the organizers could raise some major MULAH! All the proceeds of the event would be going to the RED CROSS! Finally, there was a fashion angle. Fashion people also came in full force as top Philippine designers joined in to donate their creations and had a silent auction.

The crowd was a wonderful motley crew of a rockers, fashion folk, young business men and many more.  I loved looking at the crowd and generally got a high from seeing that all these people really wanted to help out! By 11 pm, they had collected close to 250 thousand pesos from donations! How wonderful is that?  I slipped out soon after that as I did not want a relapse of my flu! However, as I was leaving the event, all I could fee was JUBILATION!

The rock scene! I loved the chill vibe of the crowd enjoying the cool music!

LADY GAGA!

Friday, August 14th, 2009

I was so lucky to have been able to watch the concert of Lady Gaga! We had Freaking FRONT row seats! The tickets were given to me by my darling friend, the stunning Ruffa Gutierrez.  Lady Gaga was everything and more! She really gave everyone a good show! We were on our feet dancing away from the very minute she sang her opening song all the way to the end! I loved the energy! The entire Araneta Coliseum was full to the rafters and you could feel the whole place just gyrating to Lady Gaga’s music!

It was a really fun experience, and a couple of my friends even said that they were “bitin,” but I always feel and think that the best shows are those you leave wanting more!

Journey!

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

I was given free tickets to watch the band Journey last Saturday!  I have a confession to make: I am the farthest thing from a rock and roller, and I kind of know the songs of Journey, but I was not really a fan.  My ’80s music was more of the New Vave variety, like The Cure and Siouxsie and The Banshees. LOL!

Being the “Kaladkarin” that I am, I was not going to pass up an opportunity of a free ticket!  LOL!  I also wanted to experience for myself the powerful voice of Arnel Pineda!  For all of you who do not know the fantastic story of Arnel Pineda, do not worry – a documentary is now in the works and the movie on his story will be out soon enough.  In the meantime, log on to YouTube and search for him to hear his amazing voice.  I had goose bumps the minute he started to perform!  Every inch of my body would tingle with pride when he would shout “para sa iyo ito, PILIPINAS!”  I wanted to be part of that momentous occasion.  Even if I didn’t know all the songs of Journey, I was still so ecstatic to be there!

My photos were not that great, so I lifted and borrowed these from my friends Cyrene de la Rosa and JJ Yulo!  They had better seats and better photos than me!  LOL!

So proud of this man! Makes me really proud to be PINOY!

The Chris Brown & Rihanna concert!

Monday, November 17th, 2008

We were so excited for the Chris Brown and Rihanna concert yesterday!  It was as if we were just preparing for it the whole day.  I have to be honest that I was not so familiar with most of their songs, so we looked for their CD’s and did a crash course on their music.

We decided to go early as we heard from friends that the traffic was getting scary.  Everything went on smoothly and went  to our designated standing room only area.  A couple of my friends had seats (Bleacher seats) but I found this far from the stage so we decided to just stand nearer to the stage.

At around 8:10 it started, a man came descending from the top of the stage inverted, like some urban Batman.  He then started to be joined by hooded dancers and did a really cool number, I thought that
it was just an opening act but NO! It was Chris Brown himself!

Opening number: Chris Brown descending like an urban Batman!

He performed for over an hour and I loved his portion! You could really feel that he was giving his all!  I loved two portions of his part: the homage to Michael Jackson and the song “With You”!  He was really so GALENG!  I lost my voice just screaming!

Love this part where he payed homage to the great Michael Jackson!

    The Rihanna stage!

After his part they transformed the stage for Rihanna.  It took quite some time and good thing the producers came out with some fireworks display to entertain the 70,000-strong audience!  Personally , I came to see Rihanna as I am more familiar with her songs.  She came out looking great!  A look that combined S&M bondage with a bit of Alma Moreno (Tangga and all) LOL!

    Loving her S&M bondage outfit!

    Loving her S&M bondage outfit!

Remember the Tangga? Well, it maybe making a comeback! LOL!

Remember the Tangga? Well, it maybe making a comeback! LOL!

Her first song was Disturbia!  It was a great song to open but somehow I felt she was not giving it her all! The Filipino audience is one of the most responsive audiences in the world (I think that is one of the reasons a lot of the foreign artists come to perform here). We are sensitive to the point that if the artist is not in top form we can feel it. I felt that Rihanna was tired.  She looked fantastic but she her voice was not in the best shape.

I love it when she takes it slow, her voice comes out better.
