Every year I look forward to Divine’s “themed” Christmas parties. She holds one of the best Christmas parties around. Everyone really gets into the program and goes on full gear. I remember one year it was the 50′s and another year it was Cowboys and Indians. This year’s theme is “JUNGLE FEVER”!
.
One thing really great about Divine is that she is always on time! I have travelled with her many times over and she has never missed out on our prescribed call time.
.
However, her friends are a completely different story! LOL! Nix and I won the early bird prize and got there at 845 pm even if the invitation said 7pm. We had a perfectly good excuse as we were watching Divine and Tessa Valdes on TV5′s Who wants to be a Millionaire. Both of them were playing for the Childhaus charity which is something very close to Divine’s heart. I was their “call a friend” and it was so nerve wracking! There were such a riot to see on TV! In fact they missed out me saying the right answer so they had to use another lifeline. LOL! It was still pretty successful as both of them won 400,000.00 pesos for Childhaus. That is still quite a sum.
.
Divine’s home was transformed into a virtual jungle with trees, folliage and all that jazz! Nix was super chic in a print mix of leopard and African-esque patterns. I came as Divine and Vic’s dog LIEMPO! LOL! The spread was very Divine! LECHON and LECHON!!! Oh there was also Crispy Pata! LOL! It still baffles me how amazing she looks when she literally eats like 2 famished construction workers! LOL!
.

Nix and Khaz were both in Proud Race! I really love that young line.

I came as Liempo! LOL!

Nix and Khaz pay homage to the Mother! LOL!

Divine's main wing man, Tbram as Barok! LOL!
.
After dinner, the amazing guests arrived. We would run to the door to see all the amazing costumes. The volume of the party progressively got to a deafening pitch as the evening deepened. Much to the delight of all of us her “Becki” friends.
.

Xtina, Rxcy and Divine!

Bambi really outdid herself! I adored her Parrot costume!

Florence and Tina Daniac were so chic in their noire plumes!

Jake literally came as a tree in the jungle! While Matt came as Little riding hood... Hmmm...I guess pwede na rin forest ang jungle? LOL! Shahani came as a very chic safari traveller!

Elmer and Tbram in matching prints!

RCXY ended up being voted best dressed in his Apocalypto inspired costume! Bravo!

New couple on the block are my loves! Bianca and Carlos! I can't wait what these creative kindred spirits bring in 2012.
.
The highlights of the parties were the several games that we play like Pinoy Genio! Which is always a hoot. Then the main event which is the Bingo games which are the only thing that keeps everyone still and quiet as the prizes are really wonderful!
.

Here is Mark trying to get "booking" in the Pinoy Genuio game. He eventually got it in the nick of time.

His partner was Dennis who was really good! Can you find his angry bird?

I was so happy to see Veejay with his LOVE! Ikaw na Veejay! Really happy for you!

Veejay and Martin in matching Safari looks!

Dennis, Martin and Elmer in various themes of the jungle!

Patrick was really chic in this deconstructed taupe ensemble! I am so proud of him because he is slowly carving out a niche for himself as a stylist in the metropolis.

All beautiful creatures! This is the new age of the L to R ladies! LOL!

Nica was really so chic! Chaneling Mrs. Imelda Cojuanco!

We're all set to play Bingo!

Animalistic chic! Nica and my baby girl Stacy! I am so happy to have her back from NYC!
.
I am grateful to Divine and Vic as I truly consider them more than friends. They are family to me and Nix! It was a really fun party but everyone of us were really affected by the recent turn of events in CDO, Iligan and Dumaguete. My family is from Dumaguete and I have loads of friends in both CDO and Iligan. Divine and I have been quietly doing all that we can to gather resources to send aid and help. This is not a one time effort for us and it should not be the same for you reading this.
.
Let us all continue to work hard for the the regions’ rehabilitation. Let us all find ways to never let this happen again. These kind of tragedies could have seriously been avoided if we were more vigilant and mindful of mother nature. Keep well my friends!

I recently came from Cebu for the second installment of my Plains & Prints style tour! Can I just say I LOVE CEBU!!!! Did you know that I am half Visayan? My mother’s family is from Dumaguete and I speak fluent Visayan. So when I am in Cebu, I feel really at home. We flew in on an early morning flight joined by my sister Venisse, Erickson Farillas who owns P&P, plus PR gem Ginggay Joven de la Merced. My darling Divine Lee flew in on an even earlier flight with Nix. I just adore Divine as she really is the kind of friend who goes above and beyond! Not only did she become my Muse of the day, but also was the salesgirl and the cashier! To see her in action was just incredible! Plus all her legion of fans were also there to meet her in person! I wish I had more photos of that amazing experience but I am glad that I had a few shots to document that day! Thank you so much to the Cebuanos! It was a real pleasure visiting you guys!
.

When I landed, I saw the image of Sto. Nino and said a small prayer of thanks and asked for protection!

Flew in with Erickson Farillas, Ginggay Joven (who travels in 5 inch heels! LOVETT!!!!) and my sister Venisse.

It was a bit cloudy!

First stop was the new Radison Hotel.

The spacious lobby! This hotel is literally a hop away from the SM Cebu.

The window had my T-shirts on display!

So excited to see my collection so beautifully merchandised.

The T-shirts were already selling briskly.

More of my collection on display.

Me and Ms. Ginggay wearing my Thripps dress! I love how it looks so different on so many women!

Divine was there to lend more than moral support! Here she is with one of her fans! She is really the Queen of the Beckis!

The crowd grows in front of the store.

Had to take a photo! I really love the way Cebuanos smile!

Here I am with the head of SM Cebu.

All systems go!

Divine was so amazing! When there were so many people already, she stepped up and became the Kahera! I love you Divine!

The couple on the right are Michael and Joyce Fernan. They are the franchise owners in Cebu with some of their guests!

I have not been to the Greenhills tiangge for a really long time! Perhaps like 6 or 7 years! I just have not found the time or the inclination to go. So on a Sunday whim after a super delicious lunch at LuGang we all decided to take a look at what Greenhills tiange has to offer. The “gang” was composed of me, Nix, Divine Lee and Vic Basa. We’re all traveling together to Russia this Easter so this was a “trial run”. LOL! We all had different items on our list. Some of us were looking for Thermal underwear as it will still be majorly cold in Russia. I love this kind of weather so I am thrilled beyond belief. We were also able to get some ear muffs and some decent gloves. We were also searching for winter gear just for the heck of it. I heard that the tiangge is a haven for those export overrun coats.
.
.

Divine Lee makes a statement shopping in a tiangge wearing her 6 inch Tributes!

We all entered from the Theatre side and loved the Vespa display!
.
I was really surprised at how huge it has gotten and it is really a major shopping haunt where you can literally get anything from soup to nuts. I particularly loved the Pearl section! I think this is really a wonderful place to find pears and corals. The prices are wonderful but you do have to haggle as this is part of the fun and experience. We went on a Sunday making the crowds extra large but I think the Greenhills tiangge was a super fun experience that everyone should try! Have a super fun day guys!
.

Found a melon colored pea coat that reminded Nix of Dries Van Noten. I like it but Nix found it too girly.

We then proceeded to the Pearl section. I thought Divine looked great sans make up beside all the colored beads.

This is great color inspiration for next season.

I loved these coral beads.

ell in love with these rose earrings. They are only 200 pesos a pair!

For only 3,000 pesos you could get these baroque pearls earings. They are bigger than my thumb.

Nix, Div and Vic having a gem of a time.

I immediaely thought of Isha when I saw these. What a steal for only 400 pesos per bracelet.

It has been such a wonderful week so far. I am excited! I am at a lounge in Narita, Japan waiting for my flight to New York! YAHOO! In the past few days, I have been on an emotional roller coaster ride so I decided to fill my thoughts with beautiful things that inspire me.
I had a “Mardi-Gras” dinner with my favorite Grand Aunt Lorna Laurel where she showed me her Nena Saguil collection! I am not too familiar with her work, but from what I saw that evening I was loving it!

I love this Nena Saguil! It could work as a print in the future!

Each year I look forward to Divine Lee‘s Christmas Party! I love going to her Christmas parties because it is always fancy dress up and everyone, as in, EVERYONE is game!
This year, the theme was Cowboys and Indians! It was a riot! Divine and her angels transformed her apartment into the wild wild West! OMG! The details were incredible, cactus plants, play horses and a gigantic TEEPEE! I came in as Boss Hoggs from the Dukes of Hazzard while Nix came as an Indian Chief!

Divine as the ultimate Bingo girl! Here she is channeling a modern version of Mae West! LOL!

Indians and Cowboys galore!

I recently was invited to a beautiful ball and I wanted the share with all of you how lovely everybody looked. I really look forward to this annual event because everyone really dresses up and literally have a ball. In many ways, it’s like a grown up PROM. LOL!
Prom has always been special to me, because this is how I really started as a designer. My classmates would come to me and ask me to design their dresses and I would tear the sheets out of my notebooks and draw their gowns. This spirit is what I cherish and try to capture up to this day. The ball was held at the super chic Makati Shangri-la hotel! I had a really great time that evening. What is not to love? There were so many beautiful people dressed so elegantly and the bubbles just kept on coming! LOL! Enjoy the photos!

The minute I arrived for cocktails, I spotted the ILONGO contingent in full force! I consider them my family in the south! BIG HUGS all around!

Bumped into my fantastic designer friend Dennis Lustico here with Nix.

For the last six months Nix has been working on The Mansion all the way in Pampanga. He would tirelessly head over there 4 to 5 times a week to do the interiors of the most exciting club that would literally jolt the North. This weekend was the grand opening and we all packed our bags and headed over to the enclave to witness and experience what the Mansion is all about.

I do not know where Nix found the Ceramic Jaguars but they were really cool!

The facade!
The Mansion is the brainchild of Divine Lee and Tim Yap, who wanted to bring the fun and elegance of what they love in a night out to the beautiful people of the North. I had the chance to take some photos hours before the opening. I did not take my camera during the event itself because I just wanted to enjoy the evening.

I just want to share with all of you my incredible experience yesterday. Early Monday morning, I had asked my grocery supplier to send me boxes of canned goods and assorted food for the flood victims. I asked my team to already prepare them in bags so that they would be easily distributed. We ended up filling our delivery truck and my car with relief packages. I failed to count them, but at the time, it seemed like there was a lot.
We decided to take the goods to the White Space along Pasong Tamo extension in Makati. They usually use it for events and parties. However, this was transformed into one of the most efficient relief centers I have been to. Everyone knew what they were doing and when I got there with my truck and car, in a matter of minutes, all the goods were sorted and distributed! Incredible! I think it took them 5 minutes in total!

The White Space Relief Center!

It was one of the most organized teams that I have ever seen! I loved the idea of canvas bags for the relief goods! I wish I could find someone who can donate more of these bags, as the plastic situation was getting scary!

These are packed relief goods ready to be distributed. I just found the plastic situation a bit scary. I know that this is the fastest way to package the goods and send it to those in need, but I am sure there is another alternative.

Nix, my assistant Cara and Divine Lee. Divine has had no sleep for 3 days she has been spearheading the relief of so many of those people who were severely affected by the floods. She really is "Divinely!"

Happy to see my cousin Denise Laurel there! Packing away!
After being there, I felt OMG! Parang kulang pa! People were telling me that they needed more canned goods and more food and more candles! I decided to try and get more of the stuff that they needed. By this time, it was almost 10pm and most of the groceries and supermarkets were closed, but I was compelled to get more. Nix and I decided to raid a couple of convenience stores and buy whatever we could. We were able to buy around 10 more boxes of canned goods and noodles, but this still felt insufficient!

Nix and Cara literally buying the entire stocks of canned goods and noodles of convenience stores that same evening! Check out the empty shelves behind them.
I was so impressed with all the wonderful people there; a couple I knew, a lot I did not know, but everyone was there with all their heart and sincerity helping our brothers and sisters in need. The sun is out today and this makes me happy! However, there is more to be done! Let us all continue sharing our time and resources!
HUGS!
