A Toast to Jason Wu!

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

My New York correspondent PJ Pascual is one cool cat!  He gets invited to the best parties!  The most recent one is the party given to one of Michelle Obama‘s fave designers, Jason Wu.  PJ says that it was one of the best events of the season.

There were so many fun people there, like Anne Slowey, the fashion director for Elle Magazine. She has this show called STYLISTA…..Confession time, I actually watched the entire first season in 2 days!  It was such an awful, awful show but I could not stop watching it! LOL!

Jason Wu was in a dapper grey suit which made him look like a cute Asian Mormon.  LOL!  His muse Olivia Chanecaille was there too, in a deep blue dress, as well as Bergdorf‘s main buyer Roopal Patel.  The CFDA Accessories Designer of the Year Philip Crangi was present too, as he did the accessories for Jason’s show this season.

A big shout out to PJ – even if I am like thousands of miles away from NYC, I am glad I have him to keep me in the loop!

BIG HUGS!

Obama STYLE!

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Just like millions of people all over the world, I witnessed history in the making on January 20, 2008!  I, for one, stayed up really late and watched the swearing in of the 44th president of the United States of America!

I watched in awe and teared up on some points of this 18 minute speech. However, apart from all the excitement and the spectacle, I really wanted to find out what the First Lady would be wearing for the the inauguration ball.  I could not keep my eyes open any longer (it was like 4am), plus I was not sure if CNN would be featuring the ball.

Thank goodness for Bryanboy! I visited his site and found the dress Mrs. Obama wore.  I liked the gown!  It was fresh and young-looking.  What I love about it more is that she chose a 26 year-old Chinese American designer by the name of Jason Wu to make her gown.  Now that is nothing short of phenomenal!  I mean, I first saw and heard of Jason Wu only last fall, when I noticed his clothes on several bright young and hip New Yorkers.  Jason was also a finalist of the coveted Fashion Fund Awards, a design competition given by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and American Vogue (Alexander Wang won!).

Just like the rest of the world, I am so excited for the USA.  This new presidency brings forth not only a huge change but a brand new feeling of  hope. I am inspired by Mrs. Obama’s choice of gown and designer.  It gives out a message that everyone has the opportunity to be a star!  Congratulations to Jason Wu!  I pray that Mrs. Michelle Obama continues to support young talent!

This is Jason Wu! Love the fact that he has a blond hot male model to sit on when he chills out! LOL!
