I have always believed in the power of the moving image. I love the visceral effect it has and in many ways makes my imagination more tangible. I have the fortune of working with the super talented Jujiin Samonte. I have worked with Jujiin with several projects and he is one artist who really gets me! I don’t even have to give him a brief on what to do and he just has this innate sense of perception that has the most interesting point of view.
.
For this video, I just asked him to translate my ideas to images that would make the pieces interact with structure, sculpture and architecture. The results are a simply sensational. I love the quiet strength of the video but at the same time, I can feel the energy and excitement of the shoes! Take a look at what we have done and join me as I get super excited for this amazing shoe collection! RAJO+ PARISIAN! The shoes will be a available in major SM stores very soon. I am personally inviting all of you to come and experience my shoes. This is truly one of the most exciting projects that I have ever worked with and I want all of you women out there to come…..Because all women deserve the perfect shoe!
We recently shot our look book for our newest collection ANDROGYNY! I asked the talented Jujiin Samonte to shoot the book. I really love Jujiin’s style, there is something so fearless yet innocent about his work that amplifies the cool factor to unmeasured heights ! LOL! These photos are mostly mine and I just wanted to give you guys a bit of a peek to what we’re up to.

Prepping the shoot!

Everyone needs a perfectly tailored man’s shirt!

This collection is really personal because this is pretty much how I dressed up when I was a teenager and I wanted to relive that. LOL! Images and icons like Yojhi Yamamoto influenced this collection heavily. The collection is very neutral and a study on the masculine and the feminine – something that I have always been continually addressing. Do enjoy this sneak peek and please come and visit us at the House of Laurel!

I love these belts! Reliving my new-wave days! LOL!
This is our model Nathaniel for RAJOMAN!
Does it look better in Black and White?
This draped dream is from our line called 9!
I think it will look different on each person because the drape will conform and fall depending on the body of the wearer.
Another look from RAJOMAN! This is the Harness shirt.
A draped dress from the collection!
Sculpture in Cotton.
Undulations in washed silk.
Version 1!
Version 2!
I could not help but add a bit of shine! LOL! Tempered it though with a veil of chiffon.
Te Amare por Siempre ( I will Love you Forever) is the title of the short art film that was created by Jujiin Samonte and Shahani Gania for my Spring-Summer collection 2010 launch. Jujiin and Shahani got in touch with me early this year wanting to collaborate on a film project. I am a HUGE fan of Jujiin and Shahani and was more than willing to participate in anything that they wanted to do. We met several times and to discuss about the film that they would be doing and when they asked me what I wanted to do, I just looked at them straight in the eye and said. I have only two parameters for the film, just make sure that you LOVE what you come up with and stay within the budget! LOL!
My office was transformed into the screening room. Here is Shahani instructing Maning on how he want the "paper/scrim" to be arranged.
I am launching the 2010 Spring/Summer collection for the House of Laurel this Saturday! Please be the first to see what we have up our sleeves. I have collaborated with Visual artists Jujiin Samonte and Shahani Gania in creating a very special video installation that will prove to be absolutely breathtaking!
I am a huge fan of Jujiin Samonte‘s work! I think he is brilliant period! So when I found out that he was going to have his first exhibit I said to myself that I have to be there. Jujiin is a photographer/stylist/filmaker/DJ/mowdel…LOL! He is the true, modern, Renaissance Man!
Jujiin and Paolo! Partners in life and in debauchery! LOL!
I love it when really cool people visit me in my studio! It creates an atmosphere of fun and creativity that instantly sparks inspiration.
Today I was visited by two sets of people. Both on almost opposite sides of the spectrum, one pop and commercial and the other avant-garde and very independent. The great thing about all of this is that both sets came at the same time! I love it when this happens.
The first set of people was Shahani Gania and Jujiin Samonte. How can one describe these two? I would say marvelous mavericks. They came to me with a brilliant idea that will be kept a secret until it is time to be known. LOL!
Shahani and Jujiin--creative spirits unbound! Both have really cool blogs that I check daily!
I am so looking forward to the exhibit of Jujiin Samonte on January 29 at the Trilogy boutique! I have always been a great fan and admirer of Jujiin’s work and I cannot wait to see what he and collaborator Shahani Gania have cooked up in their delicious minds!
I have worked with Jujiin before and he always never ceases to amaze me! Jujiin has this amazingly original aesthetic that really inspires me.
