Next to Normal!

I just have to tell all of you that you must as in MUST watch Atlantis’ production of NEXT TO NORMAL!  I saw it last weekend and I was floored!  The whole show simply blew me away!  I saw the musical in New York and I loved it.  However, it was Atlantis’ production that just moved me on so many levels!  I was so emotionally shaken after the show that I needed a few minutes to get myself together.  The play tackles the difficult subject  of insanity and putting this emotion to music seems odd but it really works.  The depth of the acting and singing talent of the cast was just  superb!  Kudos to my friend Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo who was just AMAAAAAZING!!!!!!  I have seen almost all of Menchu’s work and this one was probably the most demanding role she has undertaken.  You all should really see this play as it is only on a very very limited run!  Get your tickets now at www.atlantisproductionsinc.com

Next to Normal!

I am a Broadway junkie!  When I am in New York, I try to catch a minimum of 3 shows at least! On this trip, I only had the chance to see three:  Hair, Billy Elliot and Next to Normal.  Among the three, my absolute favorite favorite was Next to Normal.  The story was about a suburban American family and how they deal with mental illness.  The music was so beautiful and haunting.  I loved how they did the staging and the flow of the story was so flawless.  I do hope that all of you get the chance to see this wonderful musical.  Billy Elliot was my second favorite; I daresay that the play was far more superior than the movie.  I was close to tears in several scenes.  The music was created by no other than Sir Elton John!   I loved it!  If you’re in town and you can only have one play to see, make it Next to Normal!  It’s worth it!
