Noel’s Dinner!

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

My friend, Noel de la Rama, is a sought-after personal chef in NYC!  His clients sound like you’re reading People or OK magazine!  I had the privilege of experiencing his cuisine in New York and it was really good!  He recently cooked for me and a few friends over at the exquisite home of the Rodriquez’s .   I always get excited and look forward to visiting their home because it is so inspiring to be surrounded by their aura and their outstanding art collection!  I am a huge fan of Junie Rodriguez’s work and every chance I get to see, it leaves me glowing.

I love how Junie's compositions just leave me breathless!

The mix of guests could not be more perfect and comforting!  I love how in one table we are able to mix various age groups and still carry a vibrant conversation.  In many ways this felt like family!  LOUD, HAPPY and full of LOVE!

You could really feel the love that night.  Noel started cooking at 2pm and did not stop till we sat down the table.  He said that the menu was typical of what he would do at the Hampton’s so this was cool!   I have never been to the Hampton’s  LOL!  At least now I know what they eat there.

The food was above and beyond!  We started with some salad which was earthy and refreshing.  Then we moved on to some fish with a light tomato sauce and then the most delicious brown rice pilaf I have ever had!  I had to have two servings of the pork loin with the mustard and mushroom sauce because it was just cooked to perfection!

The meal ended with Noel’s famous Apple pie which literally felt and tasted like HEAVEN!  We then moved to the living room for more animated stories and lots of laughter!  When I left, I prayed to God for more evenings like this because I really felt so blessed and thankful just for being there.

 One big happy family!

When I am in New York it seems like all I do here is eat!  I do a lot of other things here, but they primarily center around food! What can I do, I love food and food is love!  LOL!
I was invited by my dear friend Noel de la Rama for dinner.  Noel is a private chef here in the city, with numerous celebrity clients, so when he chooses a place it is always good!  He chose The Apiary for us that evening and it was a really good find. The food was straight forward and really comforting.  I love the no-nonsense attitude to the menu.
The appetizers were a dream! I love sweet breads! I order each time its on the menu!

The company was divine!  Good friends are always a treasure, especially when all you do is laugh the whole time.  The casting was perfect: Noel, Pj, Artus and Tunting!  It was one of those chill nights that I will always remember.

Noel’s Homecoming!

Monday, December 28th, 2009

What I love about Christmas is that so many friends from all over the world come home to celebrate Christmas. There is nothing like a Filipino Christmas!  We just know how to celebrate this important holiday like no other race on the planet!

I recently had the pleasure to join a super chic homecoming dinner for one of our dearest friends Noel de la Rama!  Noel has not been home for more than a decade. He resides in New York and is a personal chef for super famous people.  Currently, he is the personal chef of Mr. Dustin Hoffman!  Noel is like my own personal Zagat guide, giving me tips on the latest, hottest, best eats in New York City!  Apart from that, Noel is really one great guy!  We all love him!

He decided to surprise his best friend Junie Rodriquez with his home coming!  Tita Fe (Junie’s Mom) was in cahoots with the whole surprise!  The evening was an immense success!  The meal was lovingly prepared amidst the most chic environment!  Tita Fe & Junie are really my personal lifestyle heroes!
