Noel’s Homecoming!

Monday, December 28th, 2009

What I love about Christmas is that so many friends from all over the world come home to celebrate Christmas. There is nothing like a Filipino Christmas!  We just know how to celebrate this important holiday like no other race on the planet!

I recently had the pleasure to join a super chic homecoming dinner for one of our dearest friends Noel de la Rama!  Noel has not been home for more than a decade. He resides in New York and is a personal chef for super famous people.  Currently, he is the personal chef of Mr. Dustin Hoffman!  Noel is like my own personal Zagat guide, giving me tips on the latest, hottest, best eats in New York City!  Apart from that, Noel is really one great guy!  We all love him!

He decided to surprise his best friend Junie Rodriquez with his home coming!  Tita Fe (Junie’s Mom) was in cahoots with the whole surprise!  The evening was an immense success!  The meal was lovingly prepared amidst the most chic environment!  Tita Fe & Junie are really my personal lifestyle heroes!

Divine’s Wild Wild West Christmas Party!

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

Each year I look forward to Divine Lee‘s Christmas Party! I love going to her Christmas parties because it is always fancy dress up and everyone, as in, EVERYONE is game!

This year, the theme was Cowboys and Indians! It was a riot! Divine and her angels transformed her apartment into the wild wild West! OMG! The details were incredible, cactus plants, play horses and a gigantic TEEPEE! I came in as Boss Hoggs from the Dukes of Hazzard while Nix came as an Indian Chief!

Divine as the ultimate Bingo girl! Here she is channeling a modern version of Mae West! LOL!

The ACCP Party!

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

My goodness!  It’s like I am on a party overdrive!  LOL!  I certainly love the holidays, it seems you never run out of parties to go too!

My most recent one was an Asian Cultural Council Christmas cocktail party hosted by Patrick Reyno.  It is always such a joy to visit Patrick’s pad, as it is like going to  a museum!  LOL!  No wall is left bare!  Every available surface is decked with the most modern voices in the South East Asian art scene.  Patrick is one serious collector!  I am just happy to be invited!  Just being there ignites my creative juices.  The party was short and sweet as we all had other affairs that evening!  No rest for the wicked!

LOL!

Christmas under and over the sea!

Monday, December 14th, 2009

Christmas season in The Philippines is really the best!  We start hearing Christmas songs on the radio as early as September and most of us keep the Christmas decor till February! LOL!  It is almost tradition for me and my friends to attend Tessa & Dennis Valdes‘s Christmas party…or should I say EXTRAVAGANZA!

Their parties get more festive and over the top as the years progress.  One year, they had a machine that would snow inside their house.  This year’s theme was an underwater Christmas!  They transformed their home into an underwater world worthy of Nemo and Ariel!

The foyer of the house had beach balls that we were all instructed to write down our wishes for next year.

Happy Birthday Nix!

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Nix recently celebrated his birthday in Los Angeles. Cedric organized a dinner at the O-Bar, which becomes a really happening place after dinner. We were a neat little group composed of friends and family. We had a super time celebrating his birthday.

Forgive me for becoming cheesy, but my life has really been enriched by having my partner in my life! He is such a positive influence and I am really so blessed!

Happy birthday NIX!

Mango Mania!

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

I was invited to the 10th year anniversary bash of the fashion brand MANGO.  Nix and I were really psyched to go because Nix’s classmate from grade school Michael Coson heads Mango here in the Philippines. The event was held at the NBC Tent in the Fort. When we arrived, I immediately loved the chill out vibe of the party.

The tent was decorated like it was some really cool club. Great live music was playing and they were serving lots of drinks and bar food. The energy of the event was really cool, as there were so many young people and they were all so stylish! I had such a great time taking photos and just celebrating with MANGO! I mean, 10 years is a major milestone!  Congratulations!!!!

I spotted the beautiful Teresa Herrera with Mr. Victor Siasat.

MAYA!

Sunday, September 20th, 2009
The night we arrived in Shanghai, we were invited to MAYA. It’s a Mexican restaurant run by a Filipina named Michelle. I have been there before and it’s always fun. That evening was Mexico’s independence day and the whole place was in full Fiesta mode! We all had an amazing time! The Margaritas and Patron tequila shots were flowing the whole night! The best thing was that they also celebrated Bob’s birthday! I also loved that the Filipino connection is so strong all over the world! I met a few girls who walked up to me and told me that they love Project Runway! I was so touched!

Giselle’s home!

Monday, July 13th, 2009

One of my favorite girls just came home recently and we had a fabulous homecoming party hosted by the PARTY man himself: Tim Yap! We all started with a lovely dinner at Cuisine, followed by a rocking party at Embassy! I borrowed the photos from Eddie Boy Escudero. I swear, this man captures the best images!  We all had a super fun time! Welcome home Giselle!  We love you!

Mermaids in Manila!

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

I love mermaids!  I am sure all of you played the mermaid/merman/shokoy (LOL!) fantasy as a child!  Well… I discovered them recently in Manila!  When I was invited to the anniversary party of Dennis and Tessa Valdes, they treated us to a live performance of lovely mermaids!  The show is ongoing for a couple more weeks at the Manila Ocean Park!

It was really a sight to behold!  The “sirenas”  swim amidst the manta and the sharks!  A couple of times the mermaids would almost bump into the shark and this gave everyone a bit of a scare.  I encourage you to come with your entire family to the ocean park!  It’s right near the Luneta Grandstand in Manila!  It’s really worth the trip.  An educational experience for everyone.  Plus, you get to see live mermaids!  LOL!

The green mermaid came out first! She was very athletic.
