Shopping in Florence!

Monday, November 29th, 2010

One of the best things about visiting Florence is the outlet shopping!  Just an hour outside Florence is the best outlet shopping in Europe!  For shoppers like myself, it is really a trip worth doing!  Because of the detax system in Europe, all tourists get a 12% deduction already from the price of goods so that’s a really good deal. However, there is an additional 30 to 45% off on most of the goods!  The outlet of Prada is called SPACE!  I am a PRADA junkie!  Been this way since I knew what fashion was and what I love about the outlet in PRADA is that, most of the goods there are IN SEASON!!!!    Meaning, it’s not old stock but what they actually sell in the stores currently!  There are also items that are a season or two back and there are those that are incredibly cheap like my 100 Euro Brogues that just made me weep as my Prada angels were guiding me that day as they fit perfectly!  LOL!

Even if the day was rainy and grey, we still had time to appreciate the beautiful architecture of Florence!

There is another outlet area simply called The Mall and they have loads of designer goods that would make any follower of fashion week in the knees!  Considering it was Fall/Winter, we really outdid ourselves and shopped a storm!   I, for one, shopped heavily for my loved ones as Christmas is just around the corner I know that they will be extremely happy with my loot!  LOL!

The best discovery this trip was our Pinoy driver with matching VAN!  LOL!  His name is Obet and he is the best!  He picked us up near our hotel and drove us to the outlets.  He has been in Italy for ages and was really so helpful!  If you’re planning a trip there, do call him as you would save at least an hour of stress of looking for the place.  It’s really not the easiest to find!   These are his contact details.  Obet Domingo’s email is domnic0183@yahoo.it.  His cellphone number is +393801473552 .  Having met Obet was the best idea in the entire world!

My current obsession!

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

I have never met a person who does not love shoes! I mean, everyone I know at one point has salivated over the thought of a well-designed shoe. My closet is not very big and I try to really edit what I own and wear. The thing is I think I am obsessed with brogues/oxfords. On a recent trip I ended up buying 3 pairs and I was like, I think I have to stop! LOL! I just love them and the way they look on me. I wanted to share this with all of you because just looking at them makes me happy! What do you think?

I fell in love with these Oxford/Brogues the minute I saw them! I love the color and the heavy sole. They remind me of my bulldog/John Fluvog days of years past! LOL! They are so HEAVY! I think together they weigh 10 pounds! LOL!

A detail shot shows that the "tongue" is made from a nylon material which makes it pretty interesting.

Then when I saw these Black Patent ones, I was like! I gotta have those! The good thing is that Nix and I have the same shoe size so I honestly do not feel to guilty as we can both wear this. However I think Nix will wear this more than me. Every time I look at these I just smile! I love it when that happens.

I remember my Dad introducing me to Florsheim when I was like a teen ager! He told me that they were really well made and if you take good care of them your shoes will last forever. I think he bought me a pair but I did not appreciate it then so It just got old and moldy. Now that I am older I appreciate the quality and classic lines of this pair and I intend to take care of them so It will age gracefully.

I love the brass detail at the end of the shoe lace.

The pair that I got was actually a Duckie Brown edition, which I think makes it a bit more cool! I just saw it on my last trip and my heart went a flutter!

Loving LU!

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

My girls Leica, Kitty and Amanda decided to have a long Sunday brunch.  I took this opportunity to finally try out LU at Rockwell!  I was so excited because a couple of my readers (NAKS!) wrote me their suggestions on what to order.

When I walked in, I saw that the place was abuzz with customers and we were led to our table.  The owner Luis Terry was there to greet us and gave us a big hug!  I really appreciate it when the owners of restaurants are their because this really makes a huge difference.  After Luis explained the menu, we decided to have a bottle of bubbly to celebrate the holidays!  (As if we needed any other reason?! LOL!)

The menu was well conceived and very tempting! It's all like foreplay!
