Every season, I get a shoe obsession and I want to share with you what I am totally loving right now. Last season, it was all about the brogues. I love brogues and they will still be playing the lead in my shoe closet but now I am totally loving the WALLABEES!
.
There is something strangely odd about this shoe. I remember wearing them when I was a child and perhaps it’s that memory that triggers this desire. The shape is actually odd looking and it feels fairly organic. Short of saying that this is the shoe de rigeur for tree huggers and hippies! LOL! What I love about them is the shape and the handmade feel of the shoe. I already got a pair and I am really loving them. My history of trend spotting shoes have always been on the money so I just want to share this with all of you so that you can get a head start on the trends!

Every now and then I get to begin on a project literally from the shoe up! A dear client brought in her fabulous Givenchy jet-black Studded sandals and I just fell in love with it! It really defined what FIERCE was all about! The dress that I came up with was something really soft and super feminine as a paradox to the hardness of the shoe. I just wanted to share this with all of you as it was just too beautiful!

I have never met a person who does not love shoes! I mean, everyone I know at one point has salivated over the thought of a well-designed shoe. My closet is not very big and I try to really edit what I own and wear. The thing is I think I am obsessed with brogues/oxfords. On a recent trip I ended up buying 3 pairs and I was like, I think I have to stop! LOL! I just love them and the way they look on me. I wanted to share this with all of you because just looking at them makes me happy! What do you think?
I fell in love with these Oxford/Brogues the minute I saw them! I love the color and the heavy sole. They remind me of my bulldog/John Fluvog days of years past! LOL! They are so HEAVY! I think together they weigh 10 pounds! LOL!

A detail shot shows that the "tongue" is made from a nylon material which makes it pretty interesting.

Then when I saw these Black Patent ones, I knew I gotta have them! The good thing is that Nix and I have the same shoe size so I honestly do not feel too guilty as we can both wear this. However I think Nix will wear this more than me. Every time I look at these I just smile! I love it when that happens.

I remember my Dad introducing me to Florsheim when I was a teenager! He told me that they were really well-made and if you take good care of them your they will last forever. I think he bought me a pair but I did not appreciate it then so it just got old and moldy. Now that I am older I appreciate the quality and classic lines of this pair and I intend to take care of it so it will age gracefully.

I love the brass detail at the end of the shoe lace.

The pair that I got was actually a Duckie Brown edition, which I think makes it a bit more cool! I just saw it on my last trip and my heart went aflutter!

After more than a week in New York, we headed out to sunny Los Angeles! When we arrived, I felt so hot and was glad to get out of the heavy jackets and sweaters. It’s so cool to be in Los Angeles and we were invited to stay here with our friend Cedric. We headed out to his beautiful home, which reminded Nix and I of Wisteria Lane of the Desperate Housewives program.

This is the facade of the home of Cedric in Burbank!

This is his neighborhood! Very nice indeed!
After settling in, Cedric toured us around his home. It was all so lovely, but then we visited his closet and my mouth fell open! I have never seen anything like it! It looked like the wardrobe of 6 seriously fashionable men! OMG! It felt like the back room of BARNEY’S! I kid you not! The man has probably 500 pairs of jeans, more than a thousand shirts and shoes that could shod the entire Bel Air village! I was really amazed! This man is a serious SHOPPER! I was more than thrilled! I loved it!

I am a HUGE shoe fan! I love shoes! It’s something that I probably inherited from my Lola, she also loves shoes! Even though she is 90 years old, she still goes shoe shopping and we both get excited when she comes back from a trip and has me make something for her to match her shoes. I love the idea of working from the shoe up, which means I start the design process based on the shoe. I was surfing the net today and I got fixated on some shoe photos that I would love to share with you! Enjoy!

I think that Raf Simons is a GENIUS! I adore what he is doing for Jil Sander! Each season, he just comes up with the most INTELLIGENT designs.
This season, his clothes had this organic curvilinear aspect to it, almost like a super chic Judy Jetson! I found out that he was inspired by Pol Chambost. He is a French sculptor and a very famous ceramic artist. I found these photos on a funny blog called Imelda.com.au Check it out! The blogger pays an homage to our very own steel butterfly.
This season’s Jil Sander is something that I will remember. The shoes are just INCREDIBLE! I find myself looking at them over and over. HAAAY! This is why I LOOOOVE fashion!
