I-LAND Opening Night!

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

It was the opening night of I-LAND at the CCP last night. For those of you wanting a taste of HawaiIan culture, this is the show to see!  I found myself gyrating my hips and doing the hula after the show.

The show is all about the life of Keo Woolford.  He is the star of this one man show.  It showcases his journey from a troubled past, all the way to HULA enlightenment.

I was so happy that my friends came to see opening night!  We all  had a fantastic time!   A big bonus is the fact that we had the chance to see more of the art that decorated the lobby of the little theater at the CCP.  We all were in love with the space and we all kept on imagining different events that could take place there.  I, for one, would want to have a fun party with a great DJ! LOL!

I am in love with this mural! I think it is by Arturo Luz? Its so graphically beautiful!

ALIX!

Friday, January 16th, 2009

I would like to introduce you to my niece ALIX!  She in one KOOKY KID and I love every inch of her!  She brings so much joy to everyone she meets, and she is just adorable!  What I love most about my niece is that she has her own mind and she speaks it without hesitation!

She is also very, very, very smart, and often I do not think that she is 3 years old!  It’s as if there is this 25 year-old trapped inside her tiny body.   She is one of those girls that makes an indelible impression the moment you meet her!  She is really a fantastic child and I just wanted to share this to all of you!  LOL!  Have a great weekend and please….please…please..

Watch I-LAND the show on CCP from JAN 22 through 25! Tickets can be bought at Ticket World but the Gala in on the 22nd!  See you there!

HULA! Hotness!

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

There is going to be a lot of Hula going on!  LOL!  Something really unique and exciting is going to happen at the CCP on January 22 all the way to the 25th!  We’re bringing the HULA back!

As some of you know, I am on the board of the Asian Cultural Council Philippines. It is a council whose prime responsibility is to find funding for Filipino Artists to get international grants, thus further enhancing and enriching our local art scene.  Our first major project for the year is I-LAND!  A one-man show by Mr. Keo Woolford!  He is a certified hottie and a really great artist.  GOOGLE HIM!  LOL!  He has done leading roles in West end, London opposite Ms, Elaine Paige in “The King and I” (Keo plays the king)!

The Chairman of ACCP Mr. Ernest Escaler, our ACCP president Mrs, Maribel Ongpin, our Star performer Keo Woolford and CCP president Mr. Nes Jardin.

The play is semi-autobiographical and is a combination of many disciplines, dance, song, poetry.  I for one am very excited for the show as I am always into art, culture, half-naked men! LOL!  I ask everyone who will be reading this entry to go and see I-LAND, I guarantee that you will have a fantastic time!  Call the CCP for more information!  You may also email  me Rajolaurel@gmail.com ! LOL!  Help us improve the artist landscape in the Philippines!  See you at the show!  Gala night is on Jan 22 and the theme is  Grass skirts….JOKE!

I am going to use "The Secret" to have abs like Keo! LOL!

UP Live AIDS @25!

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

In honor of Aids day I decided to go and watch the Live AIDS show in UP Dliman.  It’s the 25th year anniversary of this benefit show and I was really happy I went.  The show was AMAZING!  It was really really really funny!

I was surprised to hear that none of the performers were professional.  A lot of “Showbiz” talent were actually discovered in past Live AIDS shows. Major talents like Giselle Sanchez, Tuesday Vargas, RS Francisco were all Alumni of the Live AIDS show.

This was one of my favorite performers that evening! He reminded me of a young Roderick Paulate!

There were so many parts of the show that left me in stiches! The show only had a few days run, hence the super packed UP main theater.  I think that it’s important to realize that AIDS is a very important issue and that the fight for AIDS  must continue.  This battle can be won through EDUCATION, INFORMATION and AWARENESS!
