My Singapore highlights!

Saturday, July 2nd, 2011
Every trip I take, I take home a personal highlight.  Each trip is different, it could be a meal or a dish I tried. It could be a fantastic view or vista. Possibly music that I heard while exploring.   It could also be a conversation or a book I finished reading while traveling.  On my recent trip to Singapore, my highlight was a BILLBOARD!  LOL!   I kid you not!
.

This was my personal highlight in my recent Singapore sojourn.

.
Now don’t give me that funny look till you see what I am talking about!  The billboard is this Male torso that is more than 50 feet tall!  It was on Orchard Road and it just made my day each time I would pass by it.  LOL!  I had to take my friends over just to share with my delight.
.

Divine's hotel was just behind it!

A close up shot!

Had to show Malu! LOL!

Trying my best to get a better view! LOL!

LOVED THIS! It's a super gigantic agate!

Cool chevron pattern!

.
My other personal highlight was spending time with my dearest Malu Gamboa who has been in Singapore for 2 whole months!  I miss her so very much so having to spend time with her was really special.
.

My real highlight was spending time with my dear Maluey!

.
What did you think about the billboard?  Nice no?!  LOL!

Sizzling in Singapore!

Friday, July 1st, 2011
Because Singapore is closer to the equator, the heat seems to be more intense!  To be honest,  heat is my enemy and I think I must have been an eskimo in my past life because I love the cold and I love winter!  LOL!   The birthday girl,  Ruffa, organized a morning pool party and a yummy crab lunch at the world famous no signboard!  I was so excited because I really love their chili crab!
.

This is Marina Bay Sands hotel! It seems I was revolving around this place the whole time I was in Singapore.

.
Our crew got bigger when darling friends Garlic, Crystalle, Divine and Victor joined.  We had a fantastic time feasting on fresh seafood and lots of crabs.
.

My favorites arrived! D+V! Met up at the NO SIGNBOARD seafood restaurant.

BFF's Crystalle and Garlic with the birthday girl!

We started ordering and in minutes the cereal prawns arrived! So fresh and oh so good!

White pepper crab! Light and subtle flavors bring out the sweetness of the crab.

The lunch crew!

This is my favorite! Chili crab! The crab is slowly cooked in this rich safron colored lake of goodness! The sauce alone is already worth the trip to Singapore. I could lap it all up and just go straight to heaven after! This just makes me smile!

Had to strike a pose!

Cabs were few and hard to find! I found that really frustrating about this trip to Singapore. Managed to make it a photo opportunity instead.

.
We all decided to check out the Marina Bay Sands mall!   I have never been to the new Marina  Bay Sands and by the looks of it, I wanted to see up close this new icon of Singapore with its bustling architectural landscape.  The Mall was quite impressive.  It had all the major stores  from Prada to Pucci and everything else in between.   This is the place to do your power shopping and also a power walk because the mall seems endless.  The mall has a restaurant line up that would make any foodie faint!  Names like Batalli, Bouloud, Savoy!  OHVEY! were all competing for my attention.   LOL!   Sadly we did not have time to try any of these restaurants in this trip.  Motivating me to plan a fun trip in the future.
.

Had to check out the new mall at the Marina Bay Sands hotel! View from the bottom!

The super gigantic mall!

My girls!

Lion King was showing and they had a display of the magical costumes.

I saw it years ago and I can't wait to take my nieces and nephew to see it with me again.

.
After the mall, we all converged at the penthouse of Ruffa’s friends where they were having a pool party and BBQ.   I guess the pool parties were really needed to cool everyone down.  It was very chill and relaxed.  From there, Ruffa hired a PARTY BUS to shuttle us around the city!  It was a brilliant move on her part because weekends and taxi cabs don’t happen in this town!  LOL!   The party bus was HUGE!  Seating more than 40 people.
.
Moved to a pool and bbq party and they had the men stewing in the pool! It was a bit like a buffet no? LOL!

Gorgeous women! Ruffa with Stephanie Zubiri and Mika Lagdameo-Martinez.

Had to take a photo of the party bus! It was HUGE!!!!

Fierce Dong meets his shopping match! Leah de Guzman.

My seatmate was the super sweet Crystalle Belo Henares

The party continues in the disco bus!

Found William and asked him to join in!

Only if he flashed us every 5 minutes! LOL!

.
Next stop was Lantern Bar at the new Fullerton Hotel!  I loved the views!  We all had a fantastic time having an impromptu photo shoot overlooking the fabulous Marina Bay Sands Hotel.  More friends joined the party and enjoyed the flowing champagne.  It was great to see friends from all over gather to celebrate with Ruffa.
.
Got to the Fullerton Bay hotel and loved the interiors!

Had to pose! It was breathtaking!

BFF'S! Garlic and Crystalle!

The views around the bar!

Our friend Christian Bautista joined in! So proud of this young man. He is in Singapore shooting a musical! I think he will be a major major international star! SOON!

Ruffa and the gang! The party gets bigger and better!

Ruffa and more friends! Christian, Leah, JM, Divine, Karylle and Jackie!

.
We hopped on the bus again. ( This party made me think like this is really a party marathon! ) This time headed to KUDETA Club!  Touted to be the hottest club to go to in Singapore.  Situated at the peak of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel!  The place was really HOT!  Figuratively and literally!  Good thing, I had my fan, if not I would have passed out!    More champagne came like there was not tomorrow!  We all danced and drank till the wee hours  of the morning!  I called it a day at close to 4am and managed to get home in one piece! LOL!  Happy birthday Ruffa!
.

Headed now to KUDETA located at the Marina Bay Sands! this is the cool lobby!

Detail of the super high ceilings!

Went up to the peak and this is what you will see!

Had a chance to see the world's longest infinity pool! Plus one amazing view!

Champagne for the Birthday girl!

Ruffa looks so happy!

Cheers sweetie!

Tim Yap finally arrives and immediately parties with the girls!

Ruffa’s Singapore Birthday Bash!

Thursday, June 30th, 2011
I was invited to attend Ruffa Gutierrez‘ Singapore Birthday bash!  Ruffa is not only a beautiful woman but a really good friend and I was more than happy to celebrate her birthday with her.  Ruffa is very organized and she sent all her guest’s an amazing Singapore itinerary filled with so much activities that I really wondered if we could have done all of this in just 3 days!   Her list of things to do looked like we were going to be in Singapore for 3 weeks!  LOL!
.
My flight was 2 hours delayed, so I missed the cocktail party but I was able to follow to the dinner at FLUTES. www.flutes.com.sg.  Flutes is one of the most popular fine dining establishments in Singapore.  I loved the old world charm of converting a home and creating a new purpose for this.  The food was  really good having simple flavors and robust portions. By  the looks of its numerous accolades decorating its walls, this restaurant is a true find.
.

An unassuming sign for a really good restaurant.

Nice quaint touches made the place feel very cozy and warm.

I had the scallops with chorizo

So happy to finally get to see Apples in Singapore. Here she is looking amazing with her friend Paolo Atienza.

Good friends celebrating with Ruffa!

Who's the cougar now? LOL!

Group shot!

.
After the dinner, we all headed to the New Asia bar which had the most spectacular views!  I kept on looking out the windows and just staring at bright lights in the big city.  With flowing champagne and with dear friends surrounding her, it was great way to greet Ruffa a happy birthday!
.

The amazing view at the New Asia Bar.

Ruffa's main squeeze Eduardo!

Happy Birthday Ruffa! We all love you!

Asia on the Edge

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

I went to Singapore because  I was invited to join this really great conference called ASIA ON THE EDGE!  It was a brilliant conference for creative entrepreneurs all over the region.  There were delegates from The Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.  For 3 whole days, it was filled with great speakers that would help us become more inspired and unleash new creative energies.

.

The conference was held at the historic Old Parliament building. Here we are having a discussion it the parliament room. It was where most of Singapore's laws were discussed and passed.

.

Take a look at what we discussed. Really interesting thoughts.

.

This Magic Mandala was really cool! I think it is very useful!

.

It was a great privilege and honor to be invited.  The best of the Philippine creative world was there and although I was not able to attend all the events, I was really happy to be around all that energy.  I want to congratulate all the organizers and all the people involved that made ASIA ON THE EDGE happen!  BRAVO!  Here are some photos of how the conference looked like.

.

The most creative Filipinos were in the summit! Janina Dizon, The brilliant Kenneth Cobonpue, Ito Kish and Tim Yap!

My favorite Margarita Fores was there! My friend Nico Bolzico from Argentina joined us but he was sleepy! LOL!

Mich Dulce fresh from London was there too! Happy that we got to spend time together.

It is day 2 or my Singapore weekend escapade and I was raring to go SHOPPING!  It is the Great Singapore Sale now so there are tons of discounts and deals to be found. The plan was to just hit Orchard road and visit the giant malls that line the street.
I woke up to this view! I was happy that the sun was out!

New Years in Shanghai

Monday, January 4th, 2010

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!  Greetings from Shanghai!  Nix and I decided to skip town and get some literal chill time ( The temp reading is 3 degrees!  LOL!) in Shanghai!  We love Shanghai as we have lots of friends there and we just really needed to escape!  We took the evening flight of Cebu Pacific which was incredibly priced and arrived ahead of schedule!  We then decided to have drinks with Robby Carmona who also flew into Shanghai for the New Year’s celebration!

While waiting for our boarding we had some coffee and water at Bo's coffee. I really like their bottle water packaging. Very nice! I just think that they should make the seating in their Terminal 3 branch more cozy. They would do better business if they made it feel like a cafe and not just a bunch of chairs and tables scattered about with out much thought.

This is the view outside our bedroom! The day was delightfully clear, a bit rare now in Chinese Cities because of the dreadful pollution but the new years eve is starting to look really nice!
