TEPLO!

Friday, April 29th, 2011

The best meals I have had in my life always had  the words “comfort” next to it.  There is something about home cooked meals that just warms your heart as well as your belly.  The best place to have that “comfort food” fix in St. Petersburg is this charming place called TEPLO.  I can’t remember how we got there and the card that I got was in Russian so I can only give you the website www.v-teple.ru

The overall feel of the place is a giant rec-room.  With its low ceiling and college-style furniture,  I felt like I was in some fraternity house.  LOL!  The food and the place was really cozy and friendly. ( How un-Moscow?!  LOL!)  So friendly that one of the managers/owners, Anna, came over and had a chat with us about the place and what best to offer.  She said that the food in Teplo is what mothers in  St.Petersburg would prepare for them at home.

We all had a great time!  I for one, think that this was the best meal I had in St. Petersburg.  I saw a world map near our table and it had pins from all over the world.  I was so happy to be the first to put a pin on Manila!  After our dinner, we ended up back in our hotel and had another round of VODKA!  We wanted to ask what they say when they cheer in Russian but we all could not remember it but it sounded like “SWAROVSKI” so from then on, our group just kept on cheering  SWAROVSKI!  LOL!  I thought that it was the most appropriate toast for our group.
