I have always loved the LA lifestyle, it’s so chill and relaxed and light. I have so many friends and family who live around the LA area, so I come visit quite often. What I love about this town is the weather, I mean the sun is always out and I don’t recall a cloudy day in LA ever.
I also love shopping in LA; unlike NY where you have to lug and carry everything that you buy. Since everyone drives in California, you end up shopping and driving. Here are some of my LA highlights before I head home to Manila! I cannot wait to come home as I miss my bed and I miss my work!

Perfect weather always!

Cedric invited us to head over to Palm Springs and spend a day in the desert! He has a beautiful house there and en route to Palm Springs is one of the best outlet malls on the planet! This place is called CABAZON! The entire complex was really fascinating, as the brands that they were carrying were the super chic brands and not the usual trashy brands that you normally see. Mouthwatering luxury brands like Marni, YSL, Gucci, Theory, Bottega, Jimmy Choo, Prada and many many more! We all did our Christmas shopping there. As Filipinos, I think we’re born shoppers and we literally stayed there until closing time! Palm Springs is a really cool place. It has this mid-century vibe about it that makes it so special. It also plays home to some of the most chic resort hotels there is. I plan to visit them this trip so abangan!

After more than a week in New York, we headed out to sunny Los Angeles! When we arrived, I felt so hot and was glad to get out of the heavy jackets and sweaters. It’s so cool to be in Los Angeles and we were invited to stay here with our friend Cedric. We headed out to his beautiful home, which reminded Nix and I of Wisteria Lane of the Desperate Housewives program.

This is the facade of the home of Cedric in Burbank!

This is his neighborhood! Very nice indeed!
After settling in, Cedric toured us around his home. It was all so lovely, but then we visited his closet and my mouth fell open! I have never seen anything like it! It looked like the wardrobe of 6 seriously fashionable men! OMG! It felt like the back room of BARNEY’S! I kid you not! The man has probably 500 pairs of jeans, more than a thousand shirts and shoes that could shod the entire Bel Air village! I was really amazed! This man is a serious SHOPPER! I was more than thrilled! I loved it!

I have always wanted to visit the PS1 Museum. I have been hearing only wonderful things about the place and now that I had to opportunity to be in Queens, I was finally able to do so. It’s a branch of the Museum of Modern Art and the whole museum was once a public school building, hence PS1. As you enter the museum, you are greeted by a gigantic courtyard with an installation piece that changes every season. This season, it was a like an enormous hair-like pavilion that would not feel out of place in a Star Trek movie! LOL! It was creepy and odd and absolutely perfect for the Halloween season. LOL!

The PS1 Facade.

I call this the Cousin It Pavilion. LOL!

I wanted to visit my cousin who lives in Queens. I have not been to Queens for a really long time and I wanted to check out the place. They have been slowly developing the area and there are quite a number of excellent real estate opportunities. It was the day of the NYC marathon and I was happy to see it for myself. I wonder if I could do something like that. Nix and I started to think about it, and perhaps when we get back to Manila, we could pick it up. It looked like a whole lot of fun! We spent a nice afternoon at the pier and enjoyed the views of east river.

I was super lucky to get a table at the Standard Grill, apparently it’s one of the hottest places in NYC! I hear that it takes a couple of weeks even months to get a table. However, my stars must have been perfectly aligned that week because I was able to get a seating on a Friday night. The concept is like a very relaxed American restaurant with an old world feel. Again, the restaurant was dimly lit. Everywhere I go now, the restaurants are very dark. LOL!

The facade! Love the weatherbeaten look!

It’s my second time to spend Halloween in the city and this year it fell on a Saturday night! Meaning it was crazier than usual! The weather was also so strange, as it felt like a hot humid summer day! To top it all off, it was raining! OMG! We ended up along Union Square to watch all the festivities. When the weather turned sour, we decided to ride the subway to get back to our hotel. When we went down, it felt like there was another world down the trains! It was really scary because there were really so many people! We were supposed to change into our costumes at the hotel but ended up so exhausted from our day that we just ended up staying in! Felt a wee bit bad as I know how fun Halloween in the city is, but the body needs to rest! At least I got to see some fantastic costumes in the train! How was your Halloween?

- This is the guy from the movie Watchmen! It was quite authentic.

Bloody half naked men!

One of my favorite places in NYC has got to be the meat packing district! I just love the scene, the shopping, the energy! It’s one of the places that I visit each time I come to the city. Nix and I spent a few hours with the daughter of my friend Kitty. Thea Jacinto has really grown up to be a lovely young lady. I am so very proud of her as she will be graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design this summer! We walked around the area and just had a blast being tacky tourists!

I love the fall because I can finally wear my jackets! I am a jacket fiend! I tend to buy so much of them, but I hardly wear them because I get hot quickly, so this fall temp is perfect! Nix and I in our fall looks! LOL!

I visited the newest park in New York just recently and it’s called The HIGH LINE! It was literally 30 feet above the ground. The High Line is the newest attraction along the lower west side of Manhattan. It opened around June of this year and I was so happy I got the chance to walk its one and a half mile renovated freight railway line. What I experienced was a serene walk overlooking the Hudson River. There were so many beautiful plants that it piqued my curiosity. The high line was designed by James Corner with Diller-Renfro. I really enjoyed the experience. It’s a must visit! The park is open from 7am to 10pm. The access points are located at Gansevoort st, 14th st, 16th, 18th and 20th streets.

As I walked up the High Line, the beautiful Standard hotel greeted me! I want to stay there next time I am in town!

The weather has been pretty grey and rainy in the city, so I kind of feel lazy going out! Instead, I decided to enjoy my fabulous suite! Oh, they upgraded us to a bigger suite by the way! Can you imagine? I love my new suite because it’s so old world! I mean I don’t know anyone from my generation who has rooms that look like this. It’s really lovely!

This is the bedroom! It feels like a room fit for a princess!
